Are they all pretty much the same? I see some for $5.00 or less, and some for $30. Are they all pretty much the same thing? Is the one from Fantasy Fetish, for $15 any better than one on Ebay for $5.00?

I don't know much about the price range of Wartenberg wheels, but generally speaking adult stores are a lot more expensive than general stores no matter what you're buying, so that probably explains a large chunk of the difference in prices.

So the two Wartenberg Wheels are probably the same thing? One just has a jacked up price because it's marketed as a sex toy?

I can't say for sure that they are, of course, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case.

Anything that's marketed as a sex toy has a higher price than it's sexless counterpart. Riding crops, ropes, tape, candles... You can buy those and a lot more in tack stores or hardware stores for a fraction of the price of a sex shop, and I believe at least when it comes to riding crops, the quality is higher in a tack store as well.

Naturally it's not always like this, exceptions do exist, but as a rule of thumb it works. Everything's more expensive in an adult store.

Speaking of candles. I realize that some are lower temp than others. Can you only find the lower temp ones in sex catagories? Or can you find them elsewhere as well? I don't have time to order any without paying crazy shipping prices...wondering if I can find something at say a regular store.

Paraffin candles burn at lower temperature, and at least here you can find them in regular stores but I don't know about where you live. They're softer than regular candles when you press into them and they usually come in some kind of a jar. I haven't seen any of those long thin candles made of paraffin in a regular store. Another option is to get one of those paraffin hand bath manicure things and use that. Soy candles burn at even lower temperature, but sometimes things are added into them and they can get hot.

I don't personally think regular white stearine candles burn too hot either. You can always adjust the height at which the stearine is poured. Generally white candles burn at lower temperatures than colored, because they have less stuff added into them.

Always test the candle before starting to play with it and you'll be fine.

Nope, you can use normal candles.
Parrafin wax pours at at lower temperature than stearin wax, but you can adjust temperature by pouring from a greather hight. It is easy to try out and experiment.
If you want to ease into it, you can use massagecandles made of soy wax that melts att a really low temp.
Whatever you do, have an old sheet or something under you, or cleanup will be a bitch.
Having ice ready toois good for fun contrasts an if it accidentaly gets a bit too hot.

Oh, and be careful with coloured waxes. The usually melt at higher temperatures.
The little metal thing that anchors the wick in jar candles should not go on skin either.

Awesome. Thank you for the input!

Good to know about the colored candles. And great reminder about the metal attached to the wick. ouch! ;)

The standard shabbat candles (found in the kosher section of almost any supermarket) are usually paraffin. They're also a comfortable size to hold and downright cheap. Just make sure they are NOT beeswax.

They should look like this (not endorsing seller or anything, just posting pic for an example)

Awesome, thanks. Do you think Walmart has appropriate candles. Small town here with a few small grocery stores and a Walmart.

I love playing with the Wartenberg pinwheel! It can be used for light, tickly-type feeling, or more intense sensations, depending on the pressure applied and the particular part of the body it's used on. It can be dipped in ice-cold or hot water for added pain/pleasure. It apparently can be used very effectively in electric play when combined with a violet wand, although I haven't tried that (yet).

I picked one up at a medical supply store a few years ago for $8. You can check online medical-supply firms, or go to fetish gear sites such as Stockroom.com, which are generally pricier but will carry more of a selection of various varieties such as double-pinwheels, 5 or 7 row pinwheels, etc. Try this link to view many of the varieties, plus other medical equipment ideas: http://www.stockroom.com/General-Medical-Play-C231.aspx

Have fun!! ;)

I absolutely love mine!!! It's a delicious kind of torture. I purchased it for around $9 at a sex store and it was worth every penny.

I bought one on sale at an adult store a couple of years ago for about $3. It was on their clearance shelf. While I've never tried any other kind, the one I have seems to be perfectly nice. I don't think you need to spend a lot of money on one.

Question for both of you... is it the Fantasy Fetish brand?
