“Megan, Talia and I were just walking toward campus to have ice creame at the old confectionary shoppe. She asked me to invite you to join us, her father’s treat, and if you could bring her phone?”

We agree to meet in 15 minutes

 

[Asa]

She nodded to him sitting down as they arrive biting her lip the gathering of students and faculty has her a little on edge. The Ancient studies professor walks over and that seems to get many moving away from her.

I have placed a few calls to some associates within the military. They will deal with him and all they needed was the med report. They will bury the kid under more he'll than he will know what to do about.

She liked Dr Blackwind. She especially liked how she seemed to terrify most people.

Rick got up, "thank you professor, I will make sure the Dean also knows of your help here"

It seems Talia here, has fans in both of us

But that animal deserves everything he gets and more, I am sure the military will know what to do

 

[Asa]

Dr Blackwind just smiled and walked away.

I love her class. So many are freaked out by her. She is intimidating and her credentials list is interesting for a professor but she is really nice.

She seems to have an interesting reputation

Students either love her or hate her...few are indifferent

Maybe I will sit in and audit a few of her classes sometime...what are you studying in there now?

 

[Asa]

A general ancient studies course and she works with the archeology department as well

She looked around wondering when his fiancee would show.

Interesting woman, I should get to know her better

As students came in some recognized Rick, others Talia, some both, and those that had heard the story looked at them with concern, but none came up and said anything, at most they got a smile or wave

Suddenly Megan walked in and came over smiling, reaching out her hand, "How are you Talia, it is good to see you up and about"

 

[Asa]

Feeling a little better thanks. Just hate being so jumpy but guess that will take time.

She was shaking a little but that was to be expected. She shook Megan's hand and smiled though. She was glad to be out but it scared her some too. Once they ordered their ice cream and she used an expense card her grandfather gave her she moved to a table where her back was against a wall but close enough to a door to escape if she had to. Lorelei and her boyfriend walked over to say hello.

Megan joined them and sat next to Rick, making a show of holding his hand and kissing him on the cheek

Rick saw what Talia did, and it made him sad, she never would have been concerned about any of this before. It was inevitable, but some of that free spirit had been taken away, and likely never to return

He saw Lorelei and her boyfriend, and as much as he didn't want to, part of him hated them. Hated them for pushing for Talia to be nice to this creep, pushing for her to see him again, and leaving her alone

 

[Asa]

They had no idea she would agree to the second date all they had asked about was the double date one time where they had stayed all four together the whole evening.

Lorelei sat down by her for a second and talked to her about that very question only to find out that Talia was being Talia and being nice in her Mediterranean helping people and seeing the good in people way. After they sat for a while talking Lorelei and her boyfriend stood up to leave and without thinking as he was saying she was brave and amazing friend and how sorry he was his ex friend had done that he went to hug her gently innocently before Lorelei could stop him.

Talia tensed and leaped trying to recoil her mind remembering Megan there when the dean found her curled towards her to hide or feel protected.

Sorry sorry. Just... Stupid move I am sorry . Just you are so strong and caring Talia I... I'm sorry.

She just nodded.

It's... It's okay...

Lorelei sighed and looked to her friend then to her boyfriend. She knows you didn't mean to spooked her you hug out of habit to help friends and family feel better safer loved and appreciated. It's okay. She will be fine. We just need to give her more time.

Rick found himself angry, powerless and frustrated

He hated she had felt the need to date anyone

He hated that they had set her up

He hated Megan for the fact that it was to curry her favor he hadn't been there

But those were all excuses, he hated himself and he felt an anger below the surface that could break at any time

When the boyfriend went to hug Talia and he saw her reaction, he almost broke, fists clenched he had stood up and pushed back from the table

He sensed he was a powder keg and as they apologized he walked out of the ice cream parlor for a minute...he had to regain his control and balance...he loved her...hated everything else

 

[Asa]

Talia tensed even more at the anger she felt from him. She told Lorelei's boyfriend that it was okay and she would just need more time to get past things. She was surprised when she felt Megan rest a protective/supportive hand on her shoulder if even for a moment till they walked away and she could run after him leaving Talia there but still keep an eye on her

Megan came up to him in a hurry, she was the last person he wanted to see, but realized she was only trying to help

"What is the matter with you?" she screamed, that is the last thing she needs

He let his guard down

"I know, but I am human, I see what this has done to this girl, and I want to lash out at something, someone and try to make it better, but I can't...there is no one, other than him...or maybe it is everyone that is too blame...I am fine now, I will can go back in...."

 

[Asa]

She sat there taking a few deep breaths finishing her ice cream. Part of her said run home without any of them but part of her just wanted him there by her even if that meant Megan too for now

They walked back in

I’m sorry, I get so frustrated, but not with you, but how this ever happened to you

But that is wrong, the only concern should be your getting better

Megan watched, she also sensed that he cared so much more than she wanted him too

However, she had seen her cringe, this girl wasn’t about to be intimate with anyone

Here’s your phone Talia, I charged it for you, I truly hope you feel better soon

 

[Asa]

Thank you.

She got her phone and checked on missed calls and a few missed texts.

Mom told sis. Guess I will have to call her and her girlfriend later.

They were done with their ice cream

Talia, let me walk Megan out

He got up and looked at his fiancee who followed his lead taking one last glance at Talia

 

[Asa]

She called and talked to her sister and her girlfriend her sister was glad that he was the one staying with her. Gia even texted him to tell him personally. She had taken all of his classes as part of her major.

"Please know I wait for you and am so lonely too", Megan was near tears, as she didn't know what to think

"I know, and you are being amazing here", but then he made the cardinal sin in her mind of kissing her politely, on the cheek

"Is that it?" While she wasn't exactly a fireball in bed, she thought she deserved more pent up passion than that, and then she settled down, remembering the situation, "don't lose yourself in her...no matter how sad the story"

He nodded and gave her one more kiss, no more passionate, but this time on the lips and then they parted

Don't lose yourself in her the statement was beyond ironic. He had lost himself long ago, and he knew what he was doing to Megan was wrong, he needed to figure something out...

He walked back in and saw the text from Talia's sister, reading it as he approached her..."well at least she his happy we are together"

 

[Asa]

Yeah she is happy you are there with me looking out for me but her girlfriend sees it as us actually together together and she is happy as a clam about that. She pulled the I thought I'd you he liked her line with Gia.

She shrugged.

That's what she gets for dating a Psychology major

He smiled, wanting to kiss her right there, but neither the setting nor her lip were suitable for that

I wonder how your sister, your family...you would feel about that?

Many things were going through his mind...trying to decipher feelings, options and the reality of their situation

He also recognized the differences of where they were in their lives, and what kind of commitment each of them might be able to make...and then there was this, her attack, and he still didn't understand what kind of impact that might have had

 

[Asa]

I think I am ready to get away from people now.

She studied his face.

And after your storm off I think we need to talk

He nodded and held out his arm

It was a nice day to walk home, and getting out had felt good

He wasn't sure what she was thinking or if he wanted to hear it, but if she felt they needed to talk, he wanted to hear it

He was not one to put off bad news, it that was what she needed to say, so if she had something to say to him, he might as well hear it now

They were initially quiet as they began their walk home

 

[Asa]

She was glad to be home turning to him as she closed the door.

I got a little scared when you stormed out... But I get the feeling Megan let you know that. I want to get back to how we we're but I don't know how. Do you have any ideas?

She sighed slumping against the door.

I hate this I want us back and when we have her father backing us living together we can't or don't do anything...

I know you got scared and I am sorry, but I was not angry with you, I was angry about what happened to you, and my role in that...I want to be able to fix it, but I can't...but I am sorry

I want us back too, but I thought, that the Dean's support gave us the opportunity to be together without anyone questioning the time we spend together. I would sacrifice anything to be with you, but what that means exactly while you heel, I don't know...I am so scared of hurting or frightening you

But there is something else

I don't know if you see a future for us, or if you even think about the future, I want to think there could be...but I know I won't have a future with Megan and it is not fair what I am doing to her to protect my career...I love you, I want us...but you are still a college student, and God only knows what happens to my career once I am now longer with her, if I can even stay at this University or even this town or state
