Just a thought...
I was reading something the other day, and I came across something which I'd read a long time ago but forgotten about. Now, I'm a Buddhist by faith, but what I read was the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14). Basically it's the story of a master who gives his three servants a talent(a talent was worth a lot in those days) each before leaving on a journey. When he returned, he asked his servants what they had done with the talents. Two of his servants had invested the money and made twofold the profit. The other had buried his talent ground, fearful of losing on an investment. The Master was so mad he cast the servant out and ordered his wealth to be given to the other servants.
So after pondering this, I realised that the talents in this case doesn't just apply to money, but also to people's own given abilities. For me, this means not to waste any oppurtunity to do what your best at, no matter what the cost.
When I was young I had the oppurtunity of chasing a career in professional sport, but I was forced to put it aside for my studies(mainly by my parents). At the age I am now, it's impossible for me to try and do it again.
Anyone have any regrets? Or been able to use their talents in a way that makes them happy?
