Taking hot pics

My husband and I have a nice collection of candid naughty pics (happy-snaps) but I would like to take the quality of them up to the next level. Has anyone got any hints for taking interesting naughty pics with a pretty basic digi camera? I see lots of nice examples of your work on this site!!

Have plenty of light (ideally not just the camera strobe), make sure you not so close the camera won't focus, use the whole frame.

If it is of the two of you, then a third person taking the photos is your best bet.

Good question. Now I have some for you :
- What do you mean by 'taking interesting naughty pics' - there are lots of types (e.g. sheer porn, more erotic/artistic, of body parts or at least a good portion of the body, nude or some clothing/covering), so do you have something(s) in mind?

One thing we've done is asked for tips from those whose pics we've really liked, though it also helps to make a list of things that make for bad ones, whether it's poor angles, lighting, a cluttered background, unflattering pose, etc.

- What, specifically, do you mean by improving the quality, or what changes would you like to make?

use the camera in manual mode. play with the shutter and focus. Place things in the foreground. play with light. shoot pictures with as much daylight as possible. try using light from a window. play with the shadows. just a few quick tips

Stand back and zoom in. When shooting people, it's almost better to move the camera back and zoom close, rather than move the camera close and zoom wide. A close camera tends to exaggerate the parts of the body that are close to the camera. This is especially bad for faces. Portrait photographers tend to use somewhat long lenses. Even when shooting two happy people frolicking in the bed together, a longer lens (zoomed in) tends to reduce the "cheesy" snapshot look.

Use the lowest ISO setting. Does your camera allow you to change the ISO setting? High ISO settings causes a grainy image.

What camera to do you have? Does it have a timer? The best for this type of shot is an interval timer, where it will shoot repeatedly every 10-60 seconds.

I'd suggest learning absolutely everything about your camera. Find out what features it has, and learn how to use them. For instance if it can take pictures in black and white, sepia, and whatnot. Do a lot of experimentation until you find something that you think will up the quality and make you happy with the photos.

A good photo editing software is another key component. You can correct a lot of lgithing and grain issues with something like photoShop.

These are technical things though. To really take your work tothe next level, I think you have to start thinking beyond the part being phtographed and thing about the composition of the whole work. Here is an examplke of what I mean.

She focuses a lot on the whole composition of a piece, and that makes a huge difference. She also plays with effects in photoshop. It just makes it an erotic photograph instead of a "happy snap".

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

The erotic nature of images is such a subjective thing. It's impossible to please everyone so you have to setup images that you yourself find to be stimulating. I for one could care less about the clinical closeup shots. Show me a woman smiling and willingly spreading her legs and the blood starts pumping. For me, it's all about attitude (or in the case of pictures, perceived attitude). If the people in the picture look like they are really into what they are doing then I find it exciting.
But maybe that's just me....

lighting, and comfort. best thing to do is just a bunch of different shots. the great thing about a digital, is that if you don't like them, you can delete them. if you see that they are coming out too dark, add more lighting, and so on.
