When do you take down your Christmas tree and decorations? I just took mine down tonight, and now I'm feeling kind of blue. I always get this way at the end of every year. My house looks so plain after weeks of looking so festive. Does anyone else feel this way?

Should have taken them down a week ago.

Good for you, your getting closer to the truth...

Merry Christmas:D

I have been cleaning and rearranging furniture, inching ever closer to the Christmas tree.

I told the children tonight was the last night for it. Awww they were sad.

Heya Dgrich! How are ya? :)

We leave them up for as long as we can:( we are romantics, I think. It was tonight I aske dthe question and was told we should leave them a little longer.:) So be it

Bahh!

Mine go back in their boxes

Jan 6th (AKA Twelfthnight)

I keep the christmas decorations, such as they are, up for all twelve days of Christmas.

(I never have figured out why Jan 6th is "Twelfthnight" because Jan 5th is the twelfth day of Christmas.

As Harold so wisely stated, the twelve days of Christmas fall after Christmas, not before as so many seem to think.

Mine comes down on the 6th or 7th of January.
(Harold: just FYI files, Thwelfth night is the 6th because the twelve days don't start until the 26th)

Here is a suggestion to help beat those blues......

After the holidays, decorate with things that aren't Christmas-ish, like dried flowers and natural dried wreaths, or even force blubs in the fall so that they bloom in January and February, when people tend to get the blues the most. It really helps. If you can do that, but want some brightness, go to a local greenhouse and see if they have anything to buy for cheap after the holidays.
I think more people should send live plants and flowers this time of year, to those they love. Helps to brighten up the aftermath. :D

I did up this fake garland over our main entry way from the kitchen to the living room and hung glittered snowflakes and put sprigs of German Statice in it to make it look light and airy. It'll stay up till the beggining of snow melt.

I do other little shit to try and keep the house cheerful so I don't get the winter blahs.

Depends on the tree.

Fake trees we leave up till after New Year's Eve. Coming down tomorrow.

Real trees, well if their dead, they come down right after Christmas. Before all the little needles fall to the floor.

Too bad I can't help this year, my leg sure does hurt. :D

I was lazy so my real tree is still up and dry as kindling. I'll work on getting some of the ornaments off tomorrow, but the tree probably won't get hauled out until the weekend.

I keep a stained glass nativity set up all year long so Christmas is never very far from my house.

mine is down and gone

decorations have been taken down, packed up and put away for another year last friday.
then the walls were washed down, things dusted, vacuumed and the living room was re arranged. i got a rather large Indian War Shield from my son and daughter which is now hanging by the computer.
i had the decorations up since Nov 1, so i figured time to take them down.

batter?

Are you Mr. Christmas? lol I thought I decorated early at Thanksgiving!

BTW coffee's on and I need help with my tree!

:)

The 26th because my birthday is the 27th and I like my birthday to seem like a birthday. But this year it seems to be lingering, it's still up. Maybe tomorrow.

I took it all down yesterday. Thank goodness,I thought it might be there by next christmas. ;)

I'm with you - I always leave mine up until at *least* Jan. 6th, no matter what time it went up.

Of course I haven't had a real tree since I lived with my folks, so there are no needles to worry about. Once I get my own house and have a real tree, I will keep it well watered so it will stay green and festive (and fragrent) as long as possible.

it stays up year round, we just put different decorations on it.... thursday we will put the new year decorations away and put up the valintines decorations.

too bad

We take ours down right after New Years. But I think the reason people feel bad about it is centered around the fact that around the holiday season, it's just more joyous and the season makes you feel good. After it's over we all get back to normal and flip off the first person who cuts us off on the highway.....I for one wish the feeling of the season would last all year.

coffee sounds good. you would have beat me to it but our thanksgiving is earlier than yours. LOL
besides, i gotta go with my work schedule to get things done.

you know that i would be more than happy to take the tree down!

Have a Happy New Year and see you later!

Mine never went up so they did not have to come down. Christmas this year was pretty forgetable.
