Taking a Trip

Tomorrow, my wife and I will be leaving for a month. Her brother in the Philippines is very sick and we will be visiting him and she wants to take care of some business involving property she owns there. I will take my computer and will be able to write while I am there but there may be some problems about posting, either submitting stories or posting comments on these threads. We expect to be back on May 12 but it might be necessary to extend our stay.

Well, I got here safely. I am writing this at an internet cfe across the street from ur hotel and it is Wednesday AM here and Tuesday evening in Calif.

My trip here was uneventful which is what I wanted. Uneventful is good when flying miles above the Pacific Ocean for hours and thousands of miles.

Traffic here in Quezon City is ferocius. This is even worse than traffic in San Francisco, whichis bad enough, and I would probably get ulcers if I were driving in it.

My bro-in-law is in bad shape from liver cancer which has spread to his lungs, and he may not mae it until the end of our visit. My wife, who was a lawyer here before emigrating to the US, has done a lot of his legal work, putting his affairs in order, as they say.

I brought my computer and I can write here, if I have time, but I can't send anything. I have an internet card, which was one of the "other things" that scared sub Joe, but I can only get online and resad threads. I can't post to them and I can't open emails. I don't know why there are so many liitations, but there are. I can post to threads from this public computer but I write on my HD and can't post from here. Also, the computer is set to keep me from accessing my submissions page. I don't know why that is either.

Anyhow, I am going to read some other threads and post to some of them, and read email. etc.

Hi, everybody. Thanks for your well-wishes but my brother-in-law died last week. After a series of memorial services he was cremated on Tuesday night here. The time here is fifteen hours ahead of Californisa so that would be early Tues. AM Calif time.

I am at an internet cafe across the street from my hotel and I have finally been able to get onto Lit. It too trial and error and I am not sure that I will be able to do it again. I still cannot post new stories but I can write all I want and I can use my own computer, with an intrnet card to read threads and PM but I cannot send anything through my computer. When I return home, I will probably have six or seven items to submit.

Now I am going to try to catch up on threads.
