Sorry to be a pain, but I was wondering if anyone has seen the attached symbol in alternate color besides gray. I've seen it somewhere but I can't find where.

I'm hoping to find it to use in my bdsm journal. I'm making a chronicle about my life and my journey into the bdsm world.

I'm going to outline some information about broken subs and some of the problems that seems prevalent to them and hopefully be able to provide some links to help.

If anyone knows where I can find the symbol please help me out. I saw one that was blue and red and one that was yellow and should have saved it then but didn't think about it.

Sorry for being a pain.

I'd be careful with colors, particualrly in the places on the emblem that are supposed to be holes - not pigmented circles.

I'm considering a third tat. If i decide to do it, it'll be our symbol, and i'll put it either at the base of my spine or inside my hairline at the back of my neck. If i do it, too, it's not going to be in color. Just my personal preferance, though. I'm a purist.

Here you two...

Great pictures BTW! As long as you're not planning on using these images for commercial purposes or public display, you should be able to use some of the images at:
http://members.aol.com/quagmyr/jewelry1.htm

The links on the page lead to other images you might be able to work into your production.

If it's a color animated GIF, like the one you have, try the attachment.

Good luck to you.

Thank you for posting that link, cym. I saved it.
(Of course, now I'll never find it again, since I'm too lazy to organize my HD properly...sigh)

Dusty, would you mind sharing what you mean by "broken sub?"

A friend made a couple for me last year and you are welcome to use them....

I don't know how to attach more than one pic at a time....so...

So you can fill in the holes if you get your shit together?

Go read the link, Perverted, before you ask that kinda question. It'll probably give you an answer about the holes specific to our emblem. If it doesn't come back here with what you still don't understand.

I don't do shit play.
It's on my hard limits list.
Just so you know.

I am glad to see so many people recognizing Quagmyre's creation of the BDSM symbol. I see it used so often without any sort of acknowledgement.

It's a nice symbol. If I weren't a fur-bearin' varmint I'd have already had the tat done. but it's have to be on the palm of my hand, sole of my foot, or forehead. Those are the only places that aren't hairy on me.

Does anyone have any other sites that sell jewelry with the symbol? I love that ring, but I'd like a smaller pendant or maybe a bracelet.

bump

Question:

I know the altered yin yang symbol and a couple of others like on flags, and I've dug in Lit and other places...

but... is there a symbol for just submissive? or just dominant?

I'm looking up tattoo ideas and doing symbolic research.

also... in celtic knots- anything that we (as bdsm-ers) can use ?

This rings a bell ... from a thread about a year ago if not longer.

Something to do with Oriental (Japanese/Chinese) symbols as tats.

Here's a post that might help ...

does a tatoo with the kenji symbol for *slave* count as an emblem. If so, i have one...if not...nope...

hm. thank you very much for the tip!

My SO is looking to get a tattoo and wanted to incorporate the bdsm symbol along with something of his heritage. And that started my gears to thinking that maybe if I find him the symbol for dominant it may look better or he'll appreciate the option.

and then on a side note i was looking at celtic jewerly and all those knots and symbols mean so many things and I have been digging into the history and meaning, I was wondering if any of them suited the bdsm-ers purpose.

which led me here, as I value Lit as a wonderful resource.

The only one I've seen is the "Story of O" ring seen here:
http://europe.stockroom.com/b590plus.htm

I've seen this as well, infact a good friend of mine is getting one for her birthday because we are so like minded...

but, looking for something for more of the dominant side. There are many for submissive I'm finding ... which is cool... but makes my searching harder. Thanks for the tip though, now I have a good idea for his birthday.

Wow, BlueSugar, I'm trying a bit of searching myself and you're right! I guess the hanky code doesn't fit the bill, either. :(

ok
A domme friend of mine sells shirts with symbols and flags on it, some I've never seen elsewhere, including poly pride, bear love, etc
I *think* it had one for Dom Pride, maybe that's what Blue could use?
I can't find her site right now, I will keep looking

K&Hs sylvan pet: thank you for this, I've been poking around but don't know where to start and its just blind walking around. You've giving me a focal point :)
side note: sylvan as in a AD&D reference?

Etoile: the google queen having touble? hehe. I know if you have a tough time - I'm having a tough time. Thanks for the help though. I'm glad I brought it here because it'll also add to this short thread :)

James G 5 : I've seen sites for flags and different sources of pride... but I haven't seen one for dominant exclusively yet. I was almost hoping that it was an ancient thing and could be found easily- but it seems newish. I've been searching through asian symbols and not having loads of luck... alot of false leads to "strength" and things like that.

Yeah, most of the symbols & stuff like that ARE modern, I doubt you will find much ancient :(

If you find something you like I might know someone who can make it for you :D

I want to make one... but only in (big) hopes that it spreads from here (lit) into the world (highly unlikely).

I should start posting links that i've found on symbolism.

stay tuned for an edited post eventually.

(what happened to pinky? even though duct tape is the glue of the world - it has a dark side and light side and it holds everything together)

it would be very most excellent if I find/make something and you could help me along with it, it would also make it that much more special :)

*blush* ya caught me...

literaly sylvan means "one who frequents the forest," or simply, "spirit of the forest."

my personal favorite there, which i would love to see catch on again, would be the torc. To my understanding, in ancient celtic society, almost everyone wore them.. as a sort of badge of citizenship. Pretty much the only people who didn't wear torcs were foreigners & slaves, who were not allowed to.

Furthermore, the weight of one's torc was supposed to represent the amount of responsibility they had, so a cheiftan's torc would be thicker than their thumb, & probably made of something like nickel. Supposedly, bards & druids wore the heaviest torcs, often of gold.

The torc was as much a symbol of freedom as anything i guess... & there were many celtic peoples who prefered death over losing their freedom... probably the ultimate reason that the romans had such a terrible time enslaving them.

er... for anyone confused a torc is a solid piece necklace that wraps around the back of the neck, resting as much on the sides, & leaving a space open in the front. Torcs are usually adorned with opposing animal heads, but i have also seen them with leaves or simpler loops or buttons. Most of the time they are slightly flexible.. the thicker ones to my understanding are a bugger to get on & off, as bending them much is less desirable.

:) in Dragonlance (an AD&D series...) there are the sylvanesti elves who lived in the forest etc..etc..etc.. really awesome series if you like to read. PM me if you want to know where to start in the series.

...

It sounds like a really good idea, but again, something that either it seems like all BDSMers could wear as part of a society... and or all the Dom/mes could wear as a sign of their freedom as their subs/etc aren't "free" so to say.
This is actually a really good idea, symbol to find and expand upon in this growing bdsm culture.
But it seems difficult to wear in public? Are there any pictures of how exactly this is worn?

That was the Brain *Narf*
And I figured I needed a new AV and title, and a comment made in another thread inspired this one :D
