Don't think anyone has done this thread before, and thought it would be fun for the ladies to share the details behind their romantic (or not-so-very romantic) MARRIAGE proposals (sadly, I had to insert that...lol) Men, feel free to share your input too, I don't mean to leave anyone out! :)

The reason that this comes up: My b/f proposed last weekend!! I am SO excited...

congrats!

So you know you have to share your proposal story with us, right?? Good thread, btw. Even though I have no stories of my own to contribute, I will enjoy reading. :)

Thanks you two...

I'll just give a quick summary to get everyone going...my b/f and I have been talking alot recently about what we'll do this summer (we both graduate in May from A&M University)...anyways, I went to visit my parents last weekend and when I got home Sunday night my apartment was totally decorated-complete with streamers, balloons, champagne and a "Will You Marry Me" banner...he even had a ring picked out!! (Coming from my gift-purchasing challenged b/f that was a MAJOR accomplishment! :) He grabbed my hands and knelt down in front of me and asked the question...I can't resist the sweetie, so I fell into his arms crying and whispering "yes" over and over...I can't wait!!

Not realy a proposal

27 years ago yeaterday, as a mater of fact. Madam Samuari looked up at me after an especailly GOOD time, and said, "So when are we going to have Father Bill tie the knot?"

She is always several steps ahead of me. She says now that she had desided to trip me after the second time that she tutered me for a stats class that I was having trouble with. That's another story, but sufice it to say that she's still the brightest person I know (look who she married, after all) and it took another 14 months before The Revernd Bill was taking off his stole and binding our hands together!

He told me that he loved me, and that when he finally left this earth, he wanted me to hold him because he wanted my face to be the last thing he saw.

Of course I said yes.

It's funny, I started a thread on the topic of proposals a while back and got no reply. But I'll jump into this one.

We had talked about getting married, picked-out rings, and started saving up for them. We talked about wanting the moment of his proposal to be romantic and sexy, but waiting until he had actually bought the rings so he could give me an engagement ring before he popped the question. He bought the engagement ring and both wedding rings (they were a matched set) and I offered to pay for the wedding ring that I would give to him on our wedding day.

One night we were in our usual pillow-talk mode (we were already living together), I sensed he had somehing exciting to say but I didn't realize that he had bought the rings and this would be the night he would ask me. He seemed to want to say something but seemed to be looking for the right words and the right moment. But then we got into kissing and hugging and I kind of forgot his seeming to be anxious to say something, and I simply lost myself in the moment.

We were right in the middle of a very hot 69, when he stopped, slipped the ring on my finger, asked me to marry him, I said yes, and we fell right back into the rhythm of our 69, with a renewed vigor from the knowledge that we would soon be married. We sealed the proposal with simultaneous orgasms in each other's mouths.

I did pay for his wedding ring, and we exchanged rings at a ceremony just 7 weeks after this wonderful proposal. In addition, I had already bought him an engagement gift, a gold chain necklace, which I had hidden under the bed and slipped on him that very same night, after he proposed.

I think it is the sweetest, most romantic, and SEXIEST marriage proposal I have ever heard of. It is certainly memorable, to be proposed to in mid-69, I've never heard of anyone else doing that, but then again, given society's taboo on talking about your sex-life, maybe something like this does happen but you never hear about it. Only a VERY few, VERY close and trusted women friends know of this--it's not something you shout from the rooftops, ater all--but they agree that it is the most unusual and MEMORABLE, and SEXY proposal they have ever heard of.

We had just gotten into his truck to go see a movie (i think) and he handed me the box and said ... Here

My ex-husbands proposal...

We were sitting at the kitchen table after I had made dinner, and he said "you're such a great cook, will you marry me?" Wonderful huh? 2 1/2 yrs. later we were divorced!

 I got one of those too bama.

He spent two hours on the phone with his mother, came inside and managed to work into the conversation about transfer cases that his mother thinks we should get married.

I had no idea he'd asked me until he got a puppy dog look on his face. I told him, a day later, sure why not. We were kids, we were dumb. Nowdays, he does it much better, we renew vows every anniversary... among other things...

Bamarose... that's what you get for taking up with someone in Alabama! j/k

Congrats BB! That's very romantic.

The first guy that proposed to me did it when I was 17 at working at the mall in a retail clothing shop. I was way up on this ladder changing the displays and he comes in.. kneels at the bottom of the ladder, opens the box and yells "Will You Marry Me?" in front of everyone. It was so sweet but.. I ended up backing out of the marriage 2 weeks before the date. Best decision I ever made. My mom threatened to grab onto the end of my dress kicking in screaming the whole way up the aisle if I did marry him.

no proposal story here.Sorry for the ones that didn't work out, gongrats on the ones that did!

I will sit back and take notes! :)

Got him trained, KM? Have to use that famous wiffle ball bat?

Mine isn't very romantic, but it is kind of funny. My guy & I had been together for 2 years & were talking marriage. I was 39 at the time & never had an engagement ring. I decided I wanted one, picked out a beautiful ring at my store, marked down from 1000. to 400. I get an employee's discount & occasionally get extra discounts by using my charge card. He wanted to surprise me, buy the ring & have a romantic dinner. I guess I am just too practical, because when he told my son what he was going to do,JM said, "you know Mom would rather buy it herself, save the extra 100. & then you guys can go out to dinner." Of course, that's what we did. Romance is all well & good, but when you live on a budget, that 100. paid for a really nice dinner & evening out. I put the ring on my card & he paid the bill.
