Is it SODA OR POP?

Different regions have these diffferent sayings...

Here in Northern Kentucky we say things like:

1- pop...a form of drink that could be a COKE, PEPSI, etc.

2- Please?...as a question...this is said when we need a repeat of the last statement made.

3- Y'ALL....a form of greeting... as in WELCOME Y'ALL....

Would anyone like to share their regional expressions?

I've noticed that people in Indiana say "warsh" instead of "wash".

lmao @ "She's finer than frog's hair!" That's gold. :D

We call it soda here. As for sayings... Tucson is big on "But it's a dry heat!" Lots of people say "like" (myself included), but I'm not sure if that's really a saying. I don't think we have sayings, really -- there are lots of people from all over the place, so it all sort of gets lost in the mix.

Coke

No other "soda" or "pop" is allowed to be talked about, drank or even brought into our house. :)

"Fuck off" is highly prized dialect where I come from. There are many ways to say it. I've invented most of them.

local slangs

We say:

pop for any type soda

howdy or hey there for a greeting

mashed taters, baked taters, fried taters, boiled spuds, that's a tater field, and how about spuds for dinner (There is no god damn stuffing for dinner in Idaho, let me tell you! :D)

We live in "Eye-dee-ho" and the capital is "Boy-see" not "Boy-zee"

Where ya goin'
Whatcha doin'
Howzat (How's that or what did you say)

We have breakfast, lunch and dinner (not supper)

Cool thread!

In my neck of the woods, it's POP.

The SODA stuff is the carbonated water drink.

That is great Spicecake.....

This already seems to have found a home in threads....

I love it.....

Howd'y Y'ALL.....

And I do have an education.....lololol

I have all my teeth and I own 15 pairs of shoes.

So, people please remember....we are all the same...just a bit different in local slangs.

If traveling....enjoy the differences...isn't that why you left home to go some where else.

Growing up in eastern NC, it's not "soda" or "pop", but just simply "drink". Living in KY now, I've learned to say "pop".

People often think it's funny the way I use the word "carry".

Example: "Will you carry Billy Bob to the store so he can pick up some drinks."

Interpretation: "Will you take Billy to the store so he can purchase some soda."

Also, pecan is pronouced "peecan"

I say ya'll, too.

Definitely soda. "Pop" is my grandfather.

Although I do quite like the way the English put it, 'fizzy drink'.

Where I am from, when we are referring to giving someone the "finger", we say flicking off. One hundred miles south where my boyfriend grew up, it' flipping off.
Here in Illinois we say warsh, too, and it infuriates me.
Since I am originally from Arkansas, I have been forgiven for saying y'all and goobers. That is you all and peanuts for all the yanks out there! There are so many more, but I can't bring myself to say them all!

wobbly pop = beer

fizzy water = perrier

pop covers all other soft drinks

"Oh ya eh?"

It's 'pop' here although I refuse to say that and still call it 'soda'.

The is pronounced 'da', as in "Say ya to da U.P. eh"

That's weird. This poll isn't working when I vote. Maybe Literotica has finally created a BROKEN POLL.

As for the question, I grew up calling it soft drink.
