The ethically compromised United States Supreme Court ruled 8-1 today that Texas governor Greg Abbott has no standing to "overrule" President Biden's administration of deportation cases. Biden reversed Trump's draconian policy of diverting all immigration resources against people who spoke Spanish as their primary language. Biden returned Border Patrol policy to the traditional stance of persuing persons who overstayed visas regardless of their primary language or country of origin.

Abbott contended that because Trump had changed the policy in 2017, it was now inviolate because he liked Trump and didn't like Biden, dammit.

Border Patrol and their ICE gestapo could not be reached for comment, though one has to believe that ICE is crestfallen that they've lost their legal backing to harass, intimidate and assault Hispanics.

Samuel "I make laws from the bench" Alito was the lone dissenting "Justice".

It is unknown why Texas real estate developer Harlan Crowe had his boy Clarence Thomas vote in favor of President Biden. Cheap labor to build his malls, perhaps?

He can declare a state of invasion and assault them with force of arms.

No. Abbott cannot do that, at least in the reality-based world.
He can do it. He can call for and deputize and arm every willing citizen into service along his border in order to enforce the laws of Texas. It takes balls, but he can do it. There is no law that requires Texas to surrender its territory to foreign entities or persons and stand by as they ravage his state and harm his citizens.

Still livin' out that Wild West fantasy of yours, I see.

And these people walking/swimming into Murica are not forcing citizens to "surrender territory", they're just looking for our jerbs. Someone has to pick them vegetables, because the Lord knows you're not cut out for physical labor.

Wrongway lives in a world of make believe...thanks for getting him to once again show that.

nice one... and alito, again, out there all on his ownsome. he'd better watch out that branch doesn't snap right off in a crosswind

Typical racist reply, Rob.

so much winning, abbot

An "uber-conservative" federal appeals court ruled on Friday against Texas Governor Greg Abbott's floating barrier used to deter Mexican migrants from crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
In July, the Department of Justice (DOJ) sued Texas and Abbott, a Republican who has been cracking down on border security, under the Rivers and Harbors Act, which protects navigable waters. The lawsuit also alleged that the barrier was installed without necessary authorization from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the Biden administration on Friday by honoring the lower court's decision made in September to stop any work on the barrier and move it to the riverbank.

"It considered the threat to navigation and federal government operations on the Rio Grande, as well as the potential threat to human life the floating barrier created," Judge Dana Douglas wrote in the opinion.

abbott being abbott straight away is all 'they're wrong. SCOTUS here we come'

the amount of shit going down that everyone wants the SCOTUS to rule on might suggest a larger number of judges will be required or else cases will be denied simply for lack of time to consider them all!

Texas' governorship is actually one of the constitutionally weakest. And the relatively few things the governor can do unilaterally do not include what you describe here. I'm pretty sure no governor can do that, actually.

If I recollect correctly, there's another failed politician who tried, and failed, to conspire with a rabble of criminals to enforce his view of "Democracy."

And note that under the Texas state constitution, the Governor is weaker than almost all other state Governors, so his actual legal capacity is severely curtailed; in addition one suspects, Abbott lacks any testicular capacity at all..

He is the chief law enforcement officer of the state of Texas. Joe Biden is the chief law enforcement officer of the United States. When Joe Biden violates federal law and fails to uphold it, any governor can act to enforce the law in his state and protect his citizens from "any" threat to their safety either foreign or domestic.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion.

Governor Abbott Set to Sign New Texas Law: Illegal Border Crossing to Become a State Crime, Empowering State Officers to Arrest Illegal Immigrants (VIDEO)

Last month, The Gateway Pundit reported that the Texas House of Representatives has passed immigration bills that mark a drastic shift in the state’s approach to border control.

The House approved measures on Tuesday to not only allocate over $1.5 billion for additional border barriers but also to criminalize the act of illegally crossing the Texas-Mexico border as a state crime.

Senate Bill 3 would channel $1.54 billion towards the construction of border barriers and fund state troopers to patrol Colony Ridge, a housing development near Houston.

During the House’s debate, lawmakers adopted an amendment from state Rep. Tracy King, D-Uvalde, to SB 3. This amendment would allow a portion of the funds to aid local police and governments in enforcing the newly proposed state crime as outlined in Senate Bill 4.

That argument was debated in the Fifth Circuit court and was denied.

They should ask Arizona how this will go.

SCOTUS has been pretty consistent on states encroaching on the Federal governments authority when it comes to setting border policy.
