Supporting Red...

Hey Lady, don't forget about your blood work to make sure everything is ok.............I got mine done and everything is low....B-12, iron, and Blood pressure

*blushes* Yeah, I know. I had an appointment back in October and didn't go. I was working at the time and just didn't want to mess with the 3hr drive to see my surgeon. I'm going to go here soon. I've been thinking about it. It's time for a check up.

My daughter is having back issues and her doctor has asked her to lose some weight. She's 5'5" and weighs 197 (though now she is 191). So she and I joined Weight Watchers last week. I told her that I was at the point where if I wanted to lose more then I would actually have to work hard for it. She lost 6 lbs. and I lost 7.2. When I weighed in I had gotten up to 252.2 so I obviously put some of my weight back on! :eek: I'm at 245 now and we'll both weigh in again on Thursday.

Don't feel bad, I did it too.........30 crept back up on me :eek: and Congrats to your daughter............I need to get back on track. Still trying to kick the caffiene habit (it's not going so well)

Good Luck Red

Hey there!!! Yeah, he's doing fine...Mrs is a little uggers at the moment, but she's got an appointment...

Weight watchers is a very good system...I used it many years ago and it deffinately helped...though I don't nescessarilly trust their charts for what "appropriate weight" is for any given height...mine was theoretically 170 max which would leave me looking like a stick :eek:

*gladly gives snuggles!* :rose::heart::kiss:

Thought I would pop in and say hello..

I hope you are well hun :rose: Congrats on the weight loss so far, you have done fantastically well :)

Thanks all! Life's keeping me happy, which is a good thing. We finally had a nice break in the weather, and were treated to some warm air!! I can't wait till we get the lllllllloooooooonnnnnnnngggggggg spell of warmth, called SPRING! We're all looking forward to the nature hikes again. We didn't get to do as many last year with me working, but now we'll be able to again. :D

Thanks Natalya. :) It has been a completely different life since starting this thread. Time moves more quickly when you're healthier. :D I'm down from 403, to 260. I got down to 229 and ended putting some back on, but I'm recommitted and the extra and then some will disappear. With the weather being so nice and getting nicer the family and I will be out nature hiking. :nana: It's nice to meet you too. :rose: :)
Good luck with everything :rose::rose:
Thanks. :)

Good morning everyone. :D

I'm up, bright eyed-and-bushy tailed. ;) Actually Speedy, our temporary housemate is bushy tailed. He's snuggled in his little bed sleeping away. Speedy is the 6 week old baby red squirrel that was abandoned by his mother last week. He's going to live with us for about 6 more weeks and then be released back into the while, after being weaned from us.

Here is a pic of Speedy: At 5 weeks...

Speedy update:

I wanted to pop back in and catch folks up on Speedy. I went outside today with my daughter and we saw another baby red squirrel under my peony bush. It was identical to Speedy with the exception of Speedy weighed a bit more, simply because he's not been out and about running off calories, like these others were. After all they are running up and down trees and across our yard. We approached it and it ran up my Peach tree. There are no holes in the peach tree, so I walked over to the tree that's about 6 feet from the Peach, looked in the old abandoned bird nest and there was another baby squirrel wiggling deep down in the dark hole!

Now, before folks start yelling at me, I did do research. Even if a baby squirrel has been in contact with a human, the mother will take it back. So I thought, why not see how Speedy reacts and if he does nothing then I'll take him back, but if he reacts in a way I feel is positive then I will forever believe I have found his home.

He sniffed twice, put a paw on the edge of the nest and then shot down like a rabbit in a hole and stayed put. He then popped his head out as if to say goodbye, then dive bombed back into the hole.

My kids and I then left the nest alone and went to the store. We came back to check on the nest and there was yet another baby. This one though was all white! Was Speedy there? I don't know there was a lot of furry bodies though.

I've since put pecans out for the babies and hopefully for their mom. I've seen at least one pop out and run around the tree, then pop back in. So I do see they are moving freely and healthy. The ones we did see in the tree looked very healthy.

Sure I can't be 100% positive it's his home, but I feel in my gut it is and I feel I did the right thing. Speedy is eating solids, actually turning away from his bottle, so I know he can eat nuts. The other squirrel, the one in the tree was running all over the branches, so I know it is not weak from a lack of hunger, thus mom is probably feeding it, so the nest is probably not abandoned.
