Supporting Red...

Thank you for visiting everyone. :rose:

The surgery went well; there were concerns with my blood pressure, but after surgery it went down and stayed down, before surgery it was dangerously high.

The nurse who did my IV... sucked. :( I don't know what she did, but IV insertion is not her thing.

The doctor removed 2 feet across and 4 inches deep of tissue, skin, etc... this was about 7.2 lbs worth of excess stuff. My incision runs hip to hip and I have 2 drainage tubes attached to squeegee bulbs. We empty and measure them off and on through out the day. My doctor estimates I'll have them for about 2 weeks. His goal is to have around 3300 cc's of liquid drawn out of my body. (irrigation fluids from surgery and whatnot).

I feel tired and sore, but so far no fever or anything. :)

My new weight as of this morning is 265. :D So I'm down 138 lbs. :nana:

*soft hugs for Red* I'm sorry the nurse who did your IV sucks, been there and know how that feels. But I'm glad you are upbeat, that's a good thing. Take care of yourself babe. :rose:

Thanks, yeah, that was the worst IV insertion I have ever gotten (and I've had a lot of IV's. ;) )

When I had my surgery on my legs, both of them broken and reset, the nurse doing the bloodwork beforehand and ultimately the IV sucked. She missed in one arm, missed in the other while trying to take blood and decided to use the IV to do it. Only even after me telling her the sleepy making doctor (sorry but I can't spell it, lol) said not to do it in the back of my hand she tried to do it there anyways, she got the blood but the IV wouldn't stay, they had to give me 3 valiums to calm me down enough to do the surgery.

It is so good to see you around, it has been an inspiration for me to work harder on my chapter for your chain. *hugs* :rose:

Red, I don't know you, but I wanted to say congratulations on your success thus far. My best friend (ever since kindergarten) ended up having the same surgery done a few years ago. She had developed diabetes in her third pregnancy. Plus, she had always been overweight. After the first two kids, she was even bigger. Anyway, she had to have it done. Her doctor suggested that she do so. She did, and she has lost well over 150 lbs. She weighs about 130 now. And she looks GREAT! She said she felt better too.

So again, congratulations! :rose: :)

*careful but no less loving snuggles for Red!* You rock hun, be well! You know we're thinking of you! :rose:

Hi Brown_Eyez :) It is a pleasure to meet you.

It sounds like your friend made the right decision for her too. I don't regret having the surgery. Topping 403 lbs back in Oct. I knew I had to do something and it was going to have to be drastic. I was to the point that grocery shopping hurt and I didn't want to have to sit in the electric cart and drive around the store to shop. :( I can do that when I am 98 not at 34!

130 is the lowest they would want me at... I can't imagine being that small. I think I was back when I was 12 or 13??? lol

150 is where I think realistically I'll end up, though I don't know if that will be before or after any skin reconstruction surgeries. Right now though I have had enough surgeries over the past month due to some complications for what was to be a routine one, that I'm not sure I want reconstructive surgeries.

Again, thanks for posting and it was a pleasure meeting someone new. Please feel free to post anytime, or say hi in other threads, where we may someday cross paths. :rose: :)

*****HUGS***** to you too.

They are doing a good job and I don't mind letting them.

I bought a ring (about 4 years ago) from Avon. The idea was to wear the ring on my right hand's ring finger... well needless to say, my fingers were too big so I could only wear the set on my pinkie. This morning I picked up the set and slipped it easily onto the finger where I had always intended it to be. :D

Good afternoon sweetie  I hope today finds you doing well.
Hi to you. I hope your day is going lovely. :rose: Mine's been well. I went to church, stayed a little afterwards to celebrate our Pastors (a married couple who preach together) anniversary of 40 years of wedded bliss. Then I came home and napped for a few hours, which will happen probably one more time today before the evening hours come. It seems two naps (sometimes three) is what my body demands of me right now.

Glad to hear you were able to get up and about for a bit. Don't feel guilty getting that rest to continue with the healing your body needs, dear one! Wish I was closer and could be your nurse to supervise you to ensure those rest periods, as I have a feeling you push the envelop! (and what mom doesn't???)

*loving snuggles* If your body needs rest then make sure to give it all it needs!:heart:

I'd love to have a nurse! Feel free to move in. :D ***Hugs***

My kids and the hubby have been a tremendous help. I rarely have to cook and when I do decide to clean they all seem to take over and/or pitch in. My eldest (13 years) even ordered me to bed once, last week. lol. :D

***hugs to both of my visitors that popped in when I wasn't here and *hugs* to those that pop in later. *

I hope both you, MrsDL and PJ have great weeks and your Monday is as bright and sunny as mine is.

I did get an early visit from my landlord, telling me our yard needed mowed. It really isn't that high. *sigh* Hub was going to mow it last night, but rain out of time and had to go to work. I will be very happy when we own our our land and home. *crosses fingers for 6mths to a year from now*

Happy Monday sweetie  You get all the rest you need. You'll get well faster. Sounds like your family is helping you out which is nice.
