Well, I don't fish anymore, and I've never tried cross-stitch, but we share the others. I also have a coin collection and a stamp collection, both of some value to pass on to my heirs.

My niece and sister collect both coins and stamps. Valuable things to pass on... that would be my crystal collection, longaberger baskets, various other pieces of collectibles that I gather here and there. Some antiques.

My wife has some valuables as well. She's of the old school where fine china, good silver, and the like are considered as heirlooms. We also have some antiques from earlier generations. Nothing we've paid for, though. A sewing machine by White that uses peddle power, and stuff like that. All still operational.

Very cool. I only have a few pieces of handed down works. My two eldest sisters got the majority from my parents, but then both of them either fell on hard times and sold the pieces, or they left them behind when they left their marriages. The pieces I have I asked for from my parents, explaining to them that I feared the loss of the rare pieces because of my sisters past actions. They talked it over between each other and mom and dad gave me the pieces I liked.

Yes, it upset my parents and myself. I know it upset them too, but what upset me more was the fact they didn't come to me and offer to sell the pieces to me, and I would have paid the value and probably then some to keep them in the family.

*hugs for Red* I have a brother, older, that every time he's around something disappears, we don't talk to him very much but it's still along the same lines. I know how you feel babe, it sucks to have family that doesn't seem to care about what most see as important.

Yes, it upset my parents and myself. I know it upset them too, but what upset me more was the fact they didn't come to me and offer to sell the pieces to me, and I would have paid the value and probably then some to keep them in the family.

*hugs* I have a sister like that if cash is left lying around, so we have to make sure none is lying around when she visits. It's just a part of life we all deal with, sadly it is annoying, but there are many worse things I can think of then a kleptomaniac sister. She could be an axe-murderess.

Too true on that last bit, lol. When we went up this past christmas we literally opened everything except what was for him and then set it aside and hid it so he couldn't find it. He has a tendancy to sell things he takes to support some of his questionable habits...

That's too bad. *hugs* She uses it for different things, drinks, food, gas money. But she knows if she'd ask we'd give it to her. My husband supported her for a month when she lost her job; we even made sure she knew it didn't need to be paid back, we knew her financial problems. I wouldn't trade her for the world though, just some of her habits.

He'd be great with my youngest sister. She's 27, doesn't work and spends no money because she doesn't have any. She lives with my parents.

He is the only one of 3 of my mom's kids that aren't getting a key to the new house...Besides, we don't want him spending your parents money, I have too much respect for parents to do that to any one.

Personally I would reccomend that they kick her out, but that's just me. Sometimes people need to fall before they pick themselves up and it sounds like she needs to pick herself up on her own...

Ugh, my brother did the cutting himself thing twice. Didn't give him the attention then, one of my pet peeves is people doing that crap. Bless your parents for putting up with it, they shouldn't have to yet they do. Now I know where you get your goodness from.

She's bi-polar manic depressive. *sigh* I wish they'd do the "tough love" with her again, maybe it would work this time.
