All of your pictures come out so wonderfully. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the subjecst of many of your pics (you, of course), but I was also wondering what type of camera you use, and if you have any techniques to taking such great pics.

I use Nokia digi-cam DSX 200. For film, I usually go for Agfa or Fuji. I just point the darn thing and click. Personally, I think photographic art is over rated. It's so reproducable.

BTW, I'm still asleep. I'm so fucking lazy that I usually sleep till noon.

Hi lilminx!

I have a Canon Powershot S110 Digital Elph. It's the cutest little camera ever.

I recently got a tiny tripod for it-- the legs are 6 inches long when retracted, and a foot long at full extension. Before I got it, my self portraits were limited by the length of my arm. I still love arm's length photos, though.

As far as lighting goes, I like to use a single bare 60 watt bulb (on an architect's lamp) for my high contrast photos, and no flash. For the softer photos, I use a 40 watt candelabra bulb in a little bedside lamp. It has a shade that gives more diffused lighting. No flash for those, either.

I hate the flash, in general. I would rather set up my lighting than rely on the flash. It washes me out, makes me shiny, flattens my features, and makes me look yucky.

I probably take ten photos for every one I decide to keep. Of those that I decide to keep, I'll show maybe 2 of every ten. That's the great thing about digital, though. Instant gratification, and immediate disposal of the bad photos, with no evidence left over.

Just take more. It's a numbers game, really. If you shoot enough you'll end up with something you like.

Thank you so much for the info! I was told that Sony digital cameras are really good, but I wanted to know more about the one you have as well. I need something easy- I'm not exactly an expert picture taker, as you may have seen from some pics iv'e posted. Plus, a really cheap camera that ONLY works in extremely bright light doesn't help either.

Now I'm going to do some research on the camera you have.

We have multplie lamps in my living room, so it's easy to play with the illumination there. The really hard part is getting angles right, especially when as you say all my pictures have to be at arms length.

He's a fucktard.

You know, I don't think CV is a fucktard at all. I'm always kind of flattered when he shows up on a thread that I'm in. He's never been malicious to me, and I usually giggle or at least smile at the weirdness he occasionally throws my way. Some of the things he says are actually kind of clever.

I'm not defending him in the context of any one else, because he's been rotten to some other people. But he's never personally offended me, and I think that as long as he's playful instead of mean I'll be cool with him.

And he is right, I am fucking lazy. I'm rarely up before noon. Then again, I usually stay up until 7:30 or 8am, so it's not really a big deal. I'm not exactly neglecting my life's duties, so all is well.

It made me laugh. I seriously thought it was funny.

Try turning most of the lighting off, and add lights selectively. Lighting from multiple angles can confuse the eye (and the camera) when it comes to interpreting the terrain of the body. Simplify first, and add more light as needed.

I'll keep that in mind.

About CV- I don't know. I just don't find him funny. I've asked him a few times about himself, and he ignores it.

I find him annoying, actually, and I'd be pissed if he signed one of his weird-ass posts as me (whether what he said was true or not). I guess my sense of humor is lacking in the CV department.

Ditto. I find him annoying too.
Probably his intention.

I know what you mean, but I guess I'm just impossibly good-natured. It takes a whole lot to piss me off. I think the work I do has really increased my tolerance for all types of weirdness.

As for being upset that he signed my name-- it doesn't bother me a bit. It's not like he can get into my account and actually post under my name. I don't think there could possibly be any confusion that those words were mine. I know that he really likes me and that's why he sometimes pays attention to me. It must be my queer mystique.

I know it must look weird that I seem to be defending CV, but getting upset over things like that is just not my style. If it's a case of no harm, no foul, I let it go. If he was really mean to me, I'd get ruffled, but this just seems like gentle teasing. I don't mind it.

Ithink it's wonderful that you don't let things get to you. I'm not getting worked up over it or anything, it's just a minor annoyance. I have too many other things to worry about in my "real" life. :)

Life is too short to get all bunched up over the internet people.

it didnt annoy me at first when he did it about me ... but then a few posts made by other posters in the thread seemed to be confused thinking that i actually was CV or something ... so then it did kind of annoy me

if people hadnt been confused it probably wouldnt of annoyed me i guess

Try the Sony!

Heres a vote for the Sony cams. I use a Sony macvica.. they are great in low light, have three flash settings if you want a flash.. and have a great timer..you can display and delete the bad ones immediately!! Happy pic taking!!
