For any unaware internationals, the Super Bowl is the championship game of the National Football League (kinda like our "World Cup" but it only happens within the U.S.). It features not only a football game between the two "best" teams, but is a chance for companies to present their newest and coolest commercials, and for some rock star or other to put on a big show at half-time (the most infamous being the one where Janet Jackson "accidentally" flashed a nipple).

This from Wiki: "The day on which the Super Bowl is played is now considered a de facto American national holiday, called "Super Bowl Sunday". It is the second-largest day for U.S. food consumption, after Thanksgiving Day."

Note that one of foods that has become traditional to serve on this day are chicken wings.

I'll be watching for the commercials ;) but I figured this was a good excuse to start a recipe exchange thread. So, Super Bowl viewers....What will you be serving this Sunday? And, more important, how will you be preparing your chicken wings?

Sounds like Snow Cones at the Super Bowl will be in this year.

:( I am feeling un-American. I have never served chicken wings on game day. oh well, no one has complained yet.

I don't know how or why there is any connection at all between football and chicken wings.

Not just any chicken wings are suitable for Super Bowl Sunday...only extra spicy Buffalo wings will do...with bleu cheese and celery sticks...yummy!

Not to mention lots of crunchies and cold beer. :D

Chicken Wings? Nope, although I do like them.

For me on the few occasions I'm home during the Super Bowl it's usually things like Baby Backs in a slightly spicy sauce and/or Kabobs and Teriyaki style sticks.

those sound good, Cat. I usually do sliders like burger combinations or roast beef with horseradish sauce, and if i don't make a veggie pizza my sister gets all bent out of shape because it's her favorite. she usually makes the warm buffalo chicken dip, so we still have that flavor profile, among way too many other things.

Chicken wings are just a cheap and easy food. Supposedly they are called "Buffalo wings" because they originated in Buffalo New York.

When the franchise wing places came to Louisiana, we stood around and said, "Chicken wings in Tabasco sauce? Is that all you got?"

Wings are eaten with the fingers, so it's always a good idea to wash your hands BEFORE you pee.

I stay up to watch the superbowl, have done for the past 4 years. It happens in the middle of the night here so it doesn't lend itself to lots of heavy food. *L* I'm thinking about some snacks though, any suggestions?

Plus, anyone want to bribe me *not* to support their team? Every year I managed to pick the losers.

Every eat a PETA Chick?

yes, but she didn't want to return the favor because she was a vegetarian
then I dyed my dick orange, but she kept trying to bite it
she seemed to like it doggy style though.
but she wouldn't do cowgirl, either regular or reverse
calling her a bitch seemed to really turn her on

Seriously, yes, but she was one of the highest-high maintenance girls I've ever tried to put up with. And frankly, she wasn't worth giving up bacon cheesburgers for

So I'll put you down for the Ox, or the Pig?

Philly Cheese steaks!
Saute some onion, and thinly sliced steak, regional substitutions include Moose, Caribou, Elk or Buffalo.
Season and add just before it comes off the grill a slice of Provolone. put it in a Three Seed Hogie Roll, with salsa, serve with two ice cold Grolsch, with a side of Pork skins and Let the football begin!

Since my teams are out it's just a get together this year, though I think a variety of chili's will be involved as well as vegetable dips. Go whoever, woohoo!!!

I always wash my hands before I piss, my dick is the cleanest part of my body, how the fuck is it gonna get dirty under two layers of clothing unless it's from my hands?

Frog legs are probably the original chicken wings.

Uh, XSSVE, the idea is to make sure you don't bring the hot sauce in contact with your equipment. You make that mistake and you will only make it once!

Been there, done that, except in that case, I had been eating Jalapeno's of the jar with my fingers earlier, and forgot about it.

I don't know how or why there is any connection at all between football and chicken wings.

During the NFL season, when non-season-ticket holders gather in sports bars and local pubs/taverns/dives to watch their favorite team, chicken wings, among other more local favorites, i.e. bratwursts, chili nachos, etc., are an invariable stand-by. My local offers wings in in a dozen different sauces beyond buffalo wings on NFL game days. Guys work on the theory that a couple dozen wings will soak up all the beer they drink during a three-game Sunday.
