Success!

Worse than that (for the Republicans) is that we have law changes that the mass of middle class voters will like. This is what the Republicans were really fighting--some sense of reality creeping in the brains of the great unwashed electorate. :)

A fitting Sucess-Ful Thread at last. :)

i think your own triumph is essential, here, you're a woman of action, not words. you have posted about 20 times, substantively, (often interestingly) to political threads in AH, since Nov 1.

to that we add several posts, like that above, to the effect of, i hate this thread or its starter.

to that we add several graphic posts of suck/fuck/etc. designed to show your opinion of a thread and, guerrilla style, to disrupt it.

I must commend you. ALL three types of efforts, *regardless of content* have kept some interesting threads afloat and thus legitimized.

the "ignore this fellow" talks to newcomers thus come off as a kind of spoof. you're a political junky with the best of us "erotica" authors, and i'm pleased that you take the time and contribute to political threads, in whatever manner suits your mood.

I don't start them.

No matter who starts them, the wingnut speech and butthurt hatred pours into them. The thoughtful posts are few and far between, the ignorant swill like piggies.

Why are you so disrespectful? You shouldn't be a mod.

This thread is one you started; a political thread prior to the election 2008. You've been caught, red-handed and guilty. Do you have the courage to admit it, confess, or will you pull an Obama and ignore reality?

note to carnevil

Every single provision in this bill will make your taxes go up. Thanks, Obama! Another promise broken!.......Carney

with insurance, the payments of insurance fees go up. increased taxes to pay for health insurance subsidies are just the fees paid into an insurance scheme.

HOWEVER: people happily and voluntarily buy insurance as protection and for the quite proper reason that the fees will be less than the likely expenses.

SO: the man paying higher taxes (which are insurance fees), will be paying fewer/lower MEDICAL BILLS, and we know these not uncommonly bankrupt person, except for the best insured. Mortgaging the house to pay for an operation will no longer occur.

He thus gains overall.

===

PS. The rightwingers "the man least taxed, is best off" is plain silly and demonstrably false.

for one thing, there are those things to which he'd otherwise be subject, e.g. robberies, rapes, murders. the rational man will surely choose fewer incidents of crimes against his person, over reduced taxes.

beyond that, the truth is "a man is best off, who spends the lowest proportion of his earnings on necessities and to remedy adverse events."

hence "mortgaged house" (for medical bills) is plainly the LESS desirable outcome as compared to 'paying higher taxes and having minimal medical bills.'

Y'know, Pure, it used to be that only Kings and Bishops could accumulate wealth, *by stealing from the people", those and those who curried favor from the Royals and their appointed or annointed few.

The Trade broke free of the Guilds and the industrial revolution ushered in the period of the common man, where Joe Sixpack (bottle of Gin for the Limies), could actually acquire land and accumulate wealth. Along with the Age of Enlightenment, Science broke free of the Church and began tinkering with the way things really work, and the lifespan of man increased along with his general health and welfare and lo and behold the concept of Insurance for the Common Man was conceived of and implemented.

Soothsayers and other unemployed intellectuals who didn't practice a pragmatic science put their bald heads together and came up with Socialism, wherein the elite could dine off the common man.

We no longer look upon Royalty or Tribal Chiefs' (except in Africa), favorably, which will soon be the fate of communalism in all its' gory aspects, as legitimate forms of government.

Here is a truism to add to your list: "The government that governs least, governs best."
