How long should it normally take to get them approved and posted on the board?

I've been on this site for a week now, and submitted two stories the first day I was here. But they still show as "pending". I actually submitted them three times. I sent email to the address shown on the submissions page for tech support. Never got an answer.

I think I must be doing something wrong. Can anyone offer any help?

Thanks!

It can take a few weeks sometimes, especially when it's busy. There are only a couple of people that can approve stories and they have to read all of them.

Remember, this is a free-to-use site, cut them some slack. Resubmitting things won't make them appear any faster.

For my story that was 4 chapters posted seperately last month, the first took 8 days to post, the others around 5. I imagine with the holidays it could take longer than that. Also DO NOT resubmit or edit your submittion becausee if you do your story goes to the end of the line each time.

Just be paitent, they will get to you :)

It's around 5-7 right now, but many times new author's can take a little longer.

Whatever you do, do not click the word "pending" it will send your story to the back of the list again.

That's the problem. Don't resubmit ( I assume you're talking about clicking the "pending" link and then hitting the "submit" button again ) Every time you do that, the story goes to the back of the queue and you have to start the wait all over again.

As to the email addy, Laurel claims it works, but enough people come here saying that it doesn't that I have to assume it's a hit and miss prospect at best. The best way to contact Laurel is via PM here on the forum. You can find her profile easily enough in many stickies, and as the thread starter on almost every thread in the Contests and Awards forum.

That being said, you should be able to leave the stories in the queue without hitting that pending link, and they should make it through the queue in about a week. ( That seems to be about where the wait is right now )

What they said. Yes, it usually takes a week or more. Yes, re-submitting just adds to the delay.

What you MUST learn and exercise here as an author is PATIENCE. Slow down. Relax. In fact, after writing a story, put it aside for a week, then go back, re-read and re-write it. Then submit it and forget it for a week or two. Write other stuff while you wait. Maybe send your stuff to a volunteer editor for suggestions. You'll find yourself with much better output this way.

Just accept that this site has a significant turnaround time. Relax, and live with it. Cheers!

Ok, thanks everyone. I wasn't complaining ... I'm perfectly willing to "cut them some slack". I was just wondering, that's all.

The reason I re-submitted was because every time I looked, it said "not submitted" again, instead of "pending". Now it says "pending".

Ok, great. Now I know. I'll be patient.

Again, thanks for the info.
