I have made several stories in August and they're constantly pending, either because I made some edits, or because they were posted late in the day, and I'm confused, since when I posted stories late at night, they almost always got approved within a day or two. What gives?

EDIT: I just checked, and one was sent back due to bad grammar. At least now I know why.

First, you'll get more replies if you post this in the Authors' Hangout, where it's a recurring topic.

For the remainder: if you edit a submitted story, apparently it goes back to the bottom of the list. Newer authors appear to get more scrutiny that established authors. Various categories also get a closer look, like Non-Consent/Reluctance.

I don't think I've noticed any difference in the submission time, so I can't say what's going on there.

Essentially, though, the only person who knows what's going on is Laurel. If a story has been pending for a week, the hive mind's wisdom says to send her a PM asking politely whether it might perhaps have been overlooked. You probably won't get a reply, but it could give the approval process the kick it needs.

Time of day hasn't got much to do with it. Processing time depends on category (lower volume categories might post a bit quicker, because Laurel tries to maintain a steady flow into all categories); whether or not there's a Contest running (Contest stories get priority). Every time you touch a story, though, you start all over again.
