submitting a story

Hi. Recently new here, and glad to be here.
Can anybody tell me why the 'Submit a Story' link would not be on my profile page? I think I've tried everything; I just can't get it.
In fact, the login page tells me my username isn't even in the data base. Sure would like to participate.

Which Profile Page?

Can anybody tell me why the 'Submit a Story' link would not be on my profile page?

Which profile pagea re you looking on? There are three of them.

There's the BB profile page, accessible from the button under each of your posts or throughthe edit profile link from your user CP on the BB.

There's the Profile page for the site that is displayed for everyone through the member list and member search links on the Stroy Index Page. That page doesn't have any links to your submission page, because it's a general information display.

The profile you need is the Member's Profile page you're taken to when you click the login link at the top right corner of the Story Index Page -- http://members.literotica.com:81/members/main.php

If you're logged into the BB and have cookies enabled, that should take you to the page you need. That particular script does NOT work without cookies enabled and will repeatedly present you with a login page as if you don't exist if you don't allow both temorary and permanent cookies for Literotica.

Have you clicked the link entitled "submissions" on the author profile page? That will take you to another page where "Submit" is highlighted.

Toknight - if you go to http://www.literotica.com/stories/index.php

And then click on "Login" (assuming you've created a profile), and then click on the "Submissions" heading at the left margin - it should get you to the submit a story page.

I have created a profile--the one that can be edited, right? That's the only one I know of.
I'm doing exactly what you've told me, but when I click on the log in on the story index page it takes me to the member login page, and when I log in there I'm told I'm not in the data base.
And this seems like such a cool place.

There have been problems in the past with some users not being able to login to the site side of things.

Both the BB and site members use the same database so if you can log in to the BB, you should be able to login to the site as well, in fact, you should already be logged into the site if you don't logout from the BB.

Manu should have the answer to what causes this problem for some users and you can reach him via e-mail to webmaster@literotica.com or a PM. E-mail is usually faster, because Manu isn't seen much on the BB.

Logging In

I could be completely wrong, but it seems to me that once I registered to be able to submit stories I got an email that I had to respond to in order to activate the page? For what ever reason, it seems that the system doesn't know you well enough yet. Hang in there and don't give up - either Laurel or Manu will get back to you - they're really good about that but they get busy. Great to have you on the site, I'll look forward to reading your stories.

I have a violent sexual macabre short in the works. It would be great to get feedback, which brings me to this: I've been checking the critiques out; doing a critique takes valuable time away from a writer--he or she could be writing! But it is a valuable learning experience for the writer AND critiquer.
Those that put their babies open for critique should be applauded, and those that take the time to do critiques should be given much, MUCH thanks.
