Stupid question...

Thank you thank you thank you

Ok, so I know that thought should have occured to me but it didn't hence the "stupid" part of the thread name. Oh well, only about 80 more posts to go and I can have a custom avatar. WOO HOO

Cute, as you've probably noticed, this community is tight.

There are a lot of highly intelligent folk around here with quick wits. And then there are those like Hanns and busy we make fun of. His Weirdness, Harold, is mighty in the ways of the binary, so if you have any questions of cyber go to him.

The AV won't take long, as this site is very addictive. Got mine after 3 or 4 days. (yeah, I register long ago but I just started posting a little while ago.)

Anyway, see ya around.

Yes I have noticed, and I think it's great. I have also noticed that it is indeed very addicting. I had one post until tonight...Hopefully 100 won't take long. I am tired of being faceless.:( Thank you!

Is 'addicting' grammatically correct... in any context? I just hate the way it sounds.

Hmmmmmmmm....

Grammatically? Yes. I don't like it either. What would be a better word?

no. the word is 'addictive' (adj. 'causing addiction'). I don't believe that there is actually any such word as addicting.

I'm not going to say yes or no, because English is NOT my strong suite, however, spelling dictionary has it in there!

Hmmmmmmmm....

I am not even going to pretend that I know...I think this is one of those smile and nod moments :D

That is why I said I'm not saying yes or no, cuz I don't know. But it is in the dictionary!

I used to be an English scholar til I decided to vest my resources in computing. My collegues are a little slow on the uptake as far as English goes. They always say "addicting". Kind of a pet peeve they bug me aboot.

LOL apparently not!

But, I do stand corrected, I checked two more sources and the word "addicting" does turn up. However, it was listed as a verb rather than an adjective, and I can't find it used as a verb in a sentence, so I can't for the life of me figure out when or how it would be appropriate to use it.

Thanks I didn't go that far, but it does "sound" like a verb.

It appears i missed a newbie, sorry about that.
