I have a slight problem with my cd player in my car.
It's not the most expensive one the world but it does the job.

It worked fine when I first got it but when I put air in my tires it started skipping constantly. Then this morning it only skipped when I drove over the railroad tracks. The tires are still properly inflated, the only thing different was that was raining.

What does properly inflated tires have to do with my cd player skipping? BTW.. it skips bad enough that it errors out and shuts off

The timing may just be a coincidental breakdown, but it could also be something else.

Car cd players are just as prone to skipping as regular Cd players. Car cd players do not have much of a sound buffer to absorb skips so a sufficiently stong bump will affect sound. Your properly inflated tires are now more rigid and do absorb as much of the shock to the player as they used to .

I could be wrong though.

The more air you put in your tires the rougher the ride will be. Car manufactuers recomend one air pressure and tire manufacturers another. The air pressure the car maker says is probably much less then the air pressure listed on the tire because the car makers is looking for a smooth ride.

The tires have a much harder time absorbing impacts when they are at their max cold PSI.

How much air are you putting in the tires?

Most passenger car tires can only take 35 PSI cold, but some can take 44 PSI. NEVER overinflate tires. Even just a couple of pounds over on a cold tire can be dangerous when the tire heats up and the air exspands.

If the tires are 35 PSI tires inflate them to about 32 and you should be fine. The smaller the car the more sensative the ride is to higher tire pressures.

Tell me what kind of car it is and I can tell you about what a good compromise would be.

Not if your CD player is working! Have it turned up loud and you can't hear the blow outs!:p :p

Maybe tires with less air in them absorb more of the bumps in the road, and when you filled them up, now the car shakes more and makes it skip. Makes sense to me, but I dont know jack about cars. My boyfriend is an engineer at one of the Big 3 auto companies, I'll ask him for an opinion.:)

They are inflated at 32 PSI.. I swear the damn thing skips when there is nothing to skip over. It's really screwy

Try cleaning the CD player. Couldn't hurt. I know mine needs it.
