I think one of the most important points is your first one. No inhibitions.

I know the few times I have tried stripping for my lover I didn't get very far before thinking, "Damn, I must look dumb and awkward." Ofcourse, I never used long pearls or some other necklace to capture anything. That might be the root of the problem.
