Hey everyone,

I've just finished up a story but have trouble in coming up with an adequate title. A little background info about the tale – it’s about a woman named Kate who is caught secretly dancing in a strip club. (I know, it’s not exactly the most unique concept, but it’s based on a true story which I have adapted for a celebrity fic). My initial title was, Kate's New Hobby, but I wasn't happy with that. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks heaps in advance.

if she's a celeb, does this get into the papers? Or get blackmailed?
You could call it "Headline News" or "Keep It From The Press"

Here's a topic for discussion- Why do you write celeb fic?

I do too- and it's kind of interesting to me to see the different ways people approach it.
I've only written one story about the actual celebs- more often it's about a character an actor is playing.
In fact, I've gone the opposite way from you- I've usually re-written my celeb peices, with a brand new character. I find that it adds a shitload of extra work, but makes a richer story, with more motiveation and ...you know, stuff!

Actually neither, she's actually a B list star and semi famous, but has fallen on harsh times and has decided to to this for a while – disguised of course.

To answer your question, I guess one of the reasons I love to write about celebrities in particular is because in most cases you already know what they look like, what their personality, mannerisms, and situations are. I love to emphasis these views, or even better love to show them in a different light, a completely different side to them only a handful of people in their real lives get to see - or don't, sometimes it's fun just to put them in situations that most of the rest of us go through. Either way it’s fun, and for me anyway I like to keep it as realistic as possible.

Best Kept Secrets

or

The Story of Kate (boring)

hrm.. ganna have to know more i think...

Katy Did

Either that, or "Flying Saucer Underpants." It has nothing to do with the story but I think it's a great title and I always wanted to use it.

"Ass Planet." Another favorite of mine.

"The Conscience of a Conservative."

:D

Oh, all right. Let's see.

"Moonlighting."
"Opposite Poles."
"War and Peace."

Yup. Looks like I'm still as bad at titles as I remember.

Titles are everything aren’t they? :)

I find I actually design the title before the story. The next difficult part is allocating character names and then the plot.

I’m afraid I can’t think of a better title than Secret Strip.

What type of story are we talking? Is it to be taken lightly? Is it to be taken seriously?

Perhaps, should I make a presumptuous suggestion, "The Curse of Center Stage" or perhaps just "Center Stage." "In the Spotlight" might be helpful. It gives the dual position of her being the center of attention anonymously, then again, how she feels under the hotlights when she's discovered.

Just rambling off words.

Or, to borrow from Python, "A Sale of Two Titties"?

Someone hook a generator up to Dickens' coffin and we're set for life.

Thanks alot guys, alot of really good suggestions.

My fav's so far would be:
Kate Revealed!
Center Stage

BTW, I'm still laughing... ass planet! That's awesome.

Someone should start a thread naming the craziest and or funniest and wierdest story titles. Ass planet and Flying Saucer Underpants get my vote so far.

I got one for ya - Ass whisperer
