Hello!

I have the first story of a new series waiting in the Pending folder, now for over ten days. It is my first in the Romance category, if that matters, but I have over 30 chapters up on the site (and, in fact, this is a side story to my main series). Is this typical for that category? If so, I’ll take it down and re-submit in NonHuman (where it also fits).

Before anyone asks, it is in Pending, not Drafts or Kicked Back.

I suggest you send a private message to Laurel inquiring the status of your story… be sure to include the category and title. I know the Romance category is very popular, it could just be that she has an impressive number of submissions to vet right now.
But if you aren’t interested in waiting any longer you could always try to resubmit it in another category and bump it to another que.

I have had one take a full two weeks before. I really thought something was wrong, but nothing was. Not sure if that helps or not. :)

Alright. I’ll wait a few more days for it. Chapter Two was supposed to be submitted this Friday, I’ll just save it for when the first one gets its initial flurry of ratings

I put in for an edit on a story that was still on the New list and it took two weeks for it to be resolved. Also, if you even looked at the story when it was in review it could set it back a week. I did that once I'm sure. Otherwise it has taken between 2 and 5 days with normal being 3 or 4.

Once a story is published, edits are always low priority, and can easily take up to two weeks. 2 - 5 days is typical, though, for a new story.

I haven’t even started to do Edits. I have something like ten or twelve chapters that need those after Wizards had the drama with the OGL and I wrote out everything I used from them

Was it a Word doc upload rather than the text being submitted directly? That can take longer

I've had one pending for not quite that long. Only 4-5 days, but usually they're very quick. The only thing with this one was that it was sent back originally for me to make some minor edits. Maybe that's delaying it?

I have one pending since 5/1, a month. It was rejected after I asked about it. After I fixed the 'problems' I sent it back in on 5/16 and it's still pending.

having 3 sit on pending for a week now

I've had an edit hanging out in pending for about 3 weeks now. Been waiting to publish the final part of that story as well as a different one until the edit goes through.

I'd PM Laurel
I tried several times. The only response I got was when she rejected it on 5/11, sent in 5/1. I fixed her objection and sent it back 5/16. PM now sends me to forum posts - I asked in both. Still no answer. Tried the CONTACT for grins, even 'PM'd Manu. Still no answer.

What was the original reason for rejection, and what was your fix? You might still be dealing with a bot, rather than a person.

From 5/11 & 5/12
"OK, rejected for "we do not publish blackmail/rough sex/dubious consent/non-consent stories involving real-life people, groups/organizations, or copyrighted characters."

So it couldn't be the 'dubious consent' part since Charlize herself is the prankster and the head and knife were both fake as revealed in the last couple of paragraphs. If it's the 'real people' concern, I can fictionalize the mc. Is that enough?"

Hi Laurel- I have one pending since 5/1, a month. It was rejected after I asked about it. After I fixed the 'problems' and changed the category then I sent it back in on 5/16 and it's still pending. The prankster now admits the rubber knife and fake head are a prank.
Am I on an 'ignore' list?

Assuming the MC is based on Charlize Therone, my suggestion would be to change the name, remove references to the actress completely, and submit it to non-con (although you might have done that already).

You won't be on an ignore list, but it might have fallen through cracks (that is, accidental not deliberate).

The quickest way to get it in front of Laurel is to resubmit (a new title might help break the log-jam), with a polite Note to the Editor. You won't get any attention from the site from this thread.

Good luck.

It's still pending going on SIX weeks. PMing Laurel sent me to two different 'CONVERSATIONS' forum pages for her - no response. I sent a 2nd new story on 6/15 and it's still pending too. The CONTACT form doesn't work, as usual, so I sent in a dummy story with a note about this. I also tried PMing MANU. What else can I do?
:cry::eek:

I changed the mc to a woman named Charlize and had her reveal her prank with a fake knife and head in a box. More than that and it's a diff story. Why is a 2nd story also PENDING from 6/15?

That's really unusual. Silly question though - are you sure both stories have been submitted and you have them both Pending, not sitting in Draft (that's happened before).

As a new author, two weeks is getting on a bit, but it's not unheard of. Hang in there!
