Story stuck in pending for over a week – need help

I’ve followed all the instructions—deleted and re-uploaded, done this and that—but the stories are still stuck. It’s obvious there’s an issue higher up: some stories go through, others stay trapped in limbo indefinitely.
So far, it’s only been my standalone stories that got stuck, but now that I’ve submitted the sixth chapter of a series, what’s going to happen? Is that one going to be stuck in limbo forever too?

Hi everyone :) I submitted a story over a week ago, but it’s still stuck in my pending folder. Normally, from what I’ve seen, approval takes about 2–4 days, but this time it’s been much longer. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something I should do, or just keep waiting? Any advice would be really appreciated :D
I have been there myself, I know now that its not unusual, and it happens at least 1 time, lol my first time other stories I had were getting published before it . I believe it was in pending for 3 weeks. My experience if it didn't get rejected just hang tight it'll get published.

Try not to re-upload as it puts you to the back of the queue, know it is hard but just be patient :)

I have similar result's one story was pending for six weeks. I too followed the instructions, re submitted it and another two weeks went by, so I deleted it from the pending list.
On the other hand I had a story approved in three days
It's frustrating to say the least. Let's review process needs an overhaul, it's obviously not working.

Perhaps Literotica has changed the review process, and 100% of the submissions are never read by anyone. Instead, they are sorted through a program that checks the story for AI, plagiarism, and other factors predetermined by the owners of the website. If the story passes, it can be published in a matter of hours (unless a backlog exists). If the story fails for whatever reason, it goes into a pending status. What happens next is pure speculation, but I suspect that these stories need to be read and approved by an actual human, and the backlog of pending stories has gotten to the point where it now takes weeks for the submission to either get sent back or be approved.

It's all speculation, of course, and that's what is so frustrating about the whole business. No one knows why a small number get stuck, while most stories are approved in a timely fashion. Literotica has acknowledged there is an issue, but their only real advice has been, essentially, 'make sure your story was properly submitted'.

It's not a real queue, though: Many stories are still getting published (or rejected) in 1-2 days. And others are getting published in under 5.

After 15 days, you don't have a place in the queue to lose. So, re-joining it at the back gives you a chance to escape the "permanently pending" bug.

Stating that this is a bug is also "pure speculation."
If it wasn't a bug, then resubmitting would never work. Do you have an explanation for why it would be intentional to allow a story to go unreviewed, unapproved, unrejected for months but then just allow it to be published it in 2 days after it's resubmitted?

Hell if I know - maybe that's the bug, and "permanently pending" IS the intentional functionality. If you believe that, you should be bug-reporting all the cheaters who tell us about successfully circumventing it.

They can't both be not-bugs.

I do have a theory. If the story is never read by a human and only read by a computer program, then the second time the story is submitted, the program may not trigger the alerts that cause the story to go into a pending stage. That is different than a bug. So yes, I agree with you that "perhaps" (who the hell knows what really is happening) this bug is an intentional functionality."

I don't buy it. If the same story triggers different system behaviors when it's submitted at different times, then, that's a bug.

It also doesn't explain why pending longer than 15 days is basically permanent. I haven't seen anyone report getting un-pending without resubmitting it. After that amount of time, "pending" stuff isn't in a queue, it's in a permanently stuck state. There's no way that can be "by design."

If it were true, we'd hear about many stories - approved after 30, 45, 60 days. But we never do. We hear about 1-2 days, basically a nearly if not completely automated approval, and we hear about 3-7 days, which suggests additional non-automated steps. Can you think of any explanation why many many stories would be approved in more than 2 but less than 7 days, and zero after 15 days?

To me, the explanation has to be that the automated approvals take 1-2 days and the human-reviewed ones take 3-7 days, and that after that, they never get handled at all unless they're resubmitted.

Sure, it's "pure speculation," I'm not saying it isn't, but, imagining that there aren't any bugs is too implausible to even call it speculation at all.

I'm not a computer programmer, so if you want to call it a bug, I won't argue with you. Can we at least agree that Literotica has changed the way stories are approved without letting us know?

Only to the extent that stories get approved at all.

I can't consider "permanently pending" to be any kind of an intentional change to the story approval process.

Currently 3 weeks in pending purgatory, my non erotic story. Prior to that I had submitted it once before where it remained in pending purgatory for a month before I deleted it, submitted it as new and added a note explaining that it had been in pending purgatory for a month

I was thinking AI might be involved, AI is like a young kid, think they know everything, but still in need of education and improvement.

I'm relatively new as an author here, but I don't recall ever seeing Laurel or Manu actually state what the approval process was. Since we never knew, notifying us about a change would be ... weird. And probably incomprehensible.

You are absolutely right, they never have. But until mid-August, whatever that process was, it was working. Stories never sat in the pending stage for weeks. We've all been speculating about what changed to make that happen. I'm just saying it would be nice to know what is causing the pending issue.

The people who run this webpage have become idiotic.
