I recently posted my first story on Literotica. I was pleasantly surprised to receive many favorable comments. I was wondering it is considered a 'faux pas' to post your stories to more than one story site?

Nope, not a faux pas at all. Your work remains yours, to do with as you choose. Many people here have stories (and the same stories ) on different sites.

No, but it might be a faux pas to advertise another site's contents in this forum.

Story theft a common problem many of us experience at one time or another. Assuming you didn't include something with your story to the contrary, you still own the copyright. If so and the posting elsewhere was without your permission, it's illegal- even if they still attributed the story to you. You're absolutely within your rights to contact the site in question and insist they to remove it.

thats the worst faux pas, i would be horrified to see one my stories picked up and used by someone else

I have written stories for one site (not this one), then had it picked up by others without permission or even consultation. I would like to think that this was because of the quality of the stories, but it was more likely a lack of scruples. It would at least be polite to notify the author. On the other hand, I sometimes received positive responses from unexpected new readers, which was pleasant.

Some of my short stories, written primarily to interest people in the "world" of Kobekistan, and hence to persuade them to buy the "Delights" books have been submitted to five different sites, and been "stolen" by several more.

It just increases the readership, as long as I am identified as the author.

I do precisely that. Different sites work differently, and have different positives and negatives. Not a bad idea to aware of them before going in. Happy to share my experience with you by PM.
