It's been one week since i submitted my story. Still it is awaiting approval? Does it normally take this much time?

If it's your first story, a week isn't too far off the mark. First-timers get a little more scrutiny than established authors.

Make sure the link next to your story on your private author page is still there saying "pending". It's easy to miss that changing from "pending" to "rejected" if you just glance at it.

Keep in mind that if it does get rejected, the rejection notices don't always spell things out. You'd be better served to post questions about the rejection notice in the Editor's section or Author's Hangout. As long as you're not ranting ( and sometimes, even if you are ) someone will be glad to help you work out what the rejection is for, and possibly even help you correct the problems.

Another thing you should know is not to click the "pending" link. Clicking that and hitting the "submit" button sends your story back to the end of the queue. You start back at day-1 of waiting if you do that - so don't do it unless you're actually changing something you caught and don't want the error to show up in the posted story.

If it hasn't posted in another two or three days, you may want to PM Laurel ( Make sure your PMs are turned on in the UserCP ) Laurel can be found as the thread starter on almost every post in the Awards and Contests section.

I think there may be a bit of an influx of new stories at the moment. My stuff normally makes it up within two or three days; the last one took almost a week. Just be patient. :)

You have to be patient, a watched pot never boils. Sometimes the hamsters die and nobody notices for a day or two then everything has to start back up again. That can take a few days since the new hamster is a lazy fucker so Laurel has to motivate with a whip and candy.

Course if you are a really vain fucker, then your story is taking so long because you wrote so well that Laurel has to play with herself and can't manage to finish reading the story.

Perhaps Laurel is waiting for another one of my stories and is so pent up with anticipation to read my next story she can't think to read anything else. Which is complete bullshit, I'm the dirty secret around here, she posts my stories then reads them in the bath with the door locked like everyone else. ;)

Now of course it could be that your story was grabbed by the evil monster. In that case you must chase down the evil monster. It looks like a cute little white rabbit but don't be fooled it's a revenous beast with long sharp teeth that will bite your head off if you get close. To kill the monster you need the holy hand grenade. Now to get the holy hand grenade you need to cross the bridge and answer three questions, or ask a really tough one like how fast a swallow can cross the ocean with a coconut. Now once you have the hand grenade you need to pull the pin and count to three.

Precisely three, no more no less. If you count to two and throw you are going to die, if you count to four and throw you are going to die. Precisely three and no more than three then throw. Make sure you throw at the monster and do forget that it looks like an innocent little rabbit. We lose at least three virgins a week to this thing because they think it's just an innocent little rabbit.

Now if you manage to kill the monster, it doesn't stay dead but sure looks dead so be careful, then you get to wait a few days for the story to be posted. If after a few days and you are not posted, send a PM to Laurel. Do remember to make sure it doesn't say rejected and if the pending is not blue you are accepted just not posted yet, mostly you get posted a little after midnight. This is on Arizona time however so time varies and some are posted through the day. Not often but it does happen.
