Can some of you experienced authors tell me how long it's now taking to get a story approved? I'm asking because the submission info says its normally with 72 hours and my latest submission is still "pending" after one week. It does not have any special formatting and isn't "out of bounds" in any way. However, it is long at about 22,000 words (7 literotica pages).

Can anyone help?

The Hallowe'en competition is in full swing and so entries for this are given priority, pushing the timings for posting back by up to another week.

Just hang in there and then when it's up come back and give us all a link so we can go read it.

Welcome to the kennels.

It usually takes seven to ten days, especially when a contest is running. Don't fret, your story will be up eventually.

Wow. Thanks for the quick replies.

Can you tell me how the process works? Who reads the submitted stories and what are they looking for? Only after browsing these forums have I discovered the enormous number of people who read Literotica. I'm astounded! (I've been around here for a few years but never paid much attention to the forums  )

At the risk of seeming tiresome, here's another question: I've got one story pending and have another that I've been working on for some time ready to submit. Should I wait for the first one to be approved before submitting the second one or just go ahead with it? (Will having two in the pipeline slow things down?)

Have to admit that much of what motivates me is looking forward to the feedback that readers will provide. So I'm naturally eager to have stories approved.

No need to wait. You can have multiple stories pending for approval.

Some of the process is automated, looking for key words that aren't allowed, poor grammar, too many spooling mistoks. I assume that anything flagged goes to a real life reader (or a more complex parser). I think you need WeirdHarold to explain anything more.

How many stories you upload at a time is up to you I suppose. I don't know that it would make any difference to submission times although I suspect that the powers that be take pains to load stories individually (separate days) so as to give others a fair crack o' the whip.

Don't forget Foolish, the readership is anonymous and some take that opportunity to really lay into stories that they say offend them. (Loving Wives readers in particular)

But feedback (particularly e-mails) is cool (and incidentally sometimes extremely useful for showing you where or how to improve your style)

Don't forget to tick the boxes for voting and PMs and also to allow replies to your mailbox.

woh there nelly - I know you said you didn't bother much with plot, but I didn't reliase I would get thrown into the explicit sexual action quite so fast!

Not my style, I prefer a slower build up, but good luck with your stories.

ETA: Total Stimulation has a slower start and good dialogue, so I'm actually gonna give that one a shot. bbiab to comment :p
Or would you prefer comments on the story itself?
