Stories vs Poems - reader interests?

I enjoy writing both stories and poems. My stories get much more reads than the poems and difference is significant in all cases. For example, some of my stories get 13,000 reads in first several weeks and my poems get 100-200 over same period. Perhaps my poems suck. Is this just me or is this general readership pattern?

Don't take it personally. I wouldn't think it's your poetry. Most people tho find stories a bit more interesting, since it tends to fill out a concept more than a poem. A poem is usually just a glimpse of what's going on, where as a story gives it all in detail. :)

Stories generally get more reads than poems in
general....I wondered the same thing when I first
came on board Lit......in fact, on the story/poetry
feedback board, there's a bunch of poets, incl. myself,
that have been talking up "new poems" under "The
New Poems" thread......come check it out! :) In fact,
that thread and also "the new #1" thread (in re:
#1 poems on the toplist) have been getting a LOT
of hits lately, and it seems that there have been more
readers now of erotic poetry these days, which is
awesome.......

thanks

Tigerjen and SweetCherry,

Thanks for the help and encouragement. I will check out those sites. Write on!

;)

SweetCherry,

I read your poems. You do good work. I especially like in the poem, 'Loved Completely' how you bring in the mind, soul, heart. I think that is good --- i.e. the whole person; not solely physical. Makes it real.

Oh man, I can't believe it took me a week to see this, but thank you! :)

I'm not even sure if many people here know I do write, but heck, it's just my hobby. I enjoy it and like to put it out to share. :)
