Oh, my....I'm on Vella's list!!! How cool!

nope.. youre the cool one. i love your stuff and read when i can as much as i can.

im one greedy wench.:rose:

All of Colly's stories are great reads. :)

Amy's Smile by jfinn is another of my favorite series, but it is unfinished (and has been so for months) so you may end up stuck forever wanting for the happy ending like me.

(Jayne, if you're lurking, I promise I'm not whining. :D)

Since the summer is long and hot I'd recommend two series. Take your choice. One is the Sword of Stone by Terry Goodkind. Excellent series. The next is the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. I think you would like each. Goodkind has done an excellent series as a writer. Weaving in the love, mystery and fantasy of a hero. Jordan has created a world we would all love. One of adventure and equality. Enjoy.

In case you don't have time to read all that stuff, here's a condensed version:

Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind
(1st volume of the Sword of Stone series)

Michael Cypher: Fire is bad.
Kahlan Amnell: I've got a secret.
Richard Cypher: So do I.
Zedd: Me too.

(It takes 800 pages to reveal their secrets but only 50 to figure them out.)

Darken Rahl: I am your father, Richard. (dissolves)
Michael Cypher: Fire is bad. (dies)

THE END

* * *

The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan
(1st volume of The Wheel of Time series)

Rand al'Thor: Tam is my father.

(Nothing happens. Then, nothing happens. Then, unexpectedly, nothing happens. Everything is fraught with portent.)

Moiraine: Everybody come with me.
Everybody: No. Well, ok.

(They travel a LOT. Something happens that isn't explained. Something happens that doesn't make sense. Something happens.)

Rand al'Thor: Tam is my father.

THE (predictable, cliched, dumb) END

Fans: Yah! Wah hah! This is the greatest book ever! Whoo hoo! This is the greatest series ever! Whoopie! Yee haw!

*

The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan
(2nd volume of The Wheel of Time series)

Rand al'Thor: I want to do something. But doing this something is probably what the Aes Sedai want me to do, so I will do something else. But doing that something else may be what they want me to do, because they think I think they want me to do the first thing, so I'll decide to do this other thing instead. So I'll just do the first thing, since I want to do it anyway. Screw them.

(Repeat seven hundred times.)

THE END

*

The Dragon Reborn by Robert Jordan
(3rd volume of The Wheel of Time series)

Rand al'Thor: Being the Dragon Reborn stinks. I'm out of here.

(Moiraine and the gang chase him. But even though they are on HORSES, and he is WALKING, they never catch up. This is supposed to be mysterious but is really just a plot convenience for Robert Jordan.)

Perrin: I hate wolves.

(Mat and others show up out of nowhere. This is supposed to be mysterious but is really just a plot convenience for Robert JORDAN.)

Rand al'Thor: I am the Dragon Reborn. (kills the Evil Supreme Bad Guy)
Robert Jordan: Fooled you! That wasn't really the Evil Supreme Bad Guy! Now I can write forty more books!

THE END

*

The Shadow Rising by Robert Jordan
(4th volume of The Wheel of Time series)

(Everybody hates Rand, so he beats them until they obey.)

Rand: I have conquered all sorts of stuff, because I rule.
(Gibbers to self. Five hundred pages pass.)

THE END

*

The Fires of Heaven by Robert Jordan
(5th volume of The Wheel of Time series)

Rand: I found an artifact which gives me limitless power. I think I shall brick it up behind a wall.

(A female character sniffs and thinks about her neckline.)

THE END

*

Lord of Chaos by Robert Jordan
(6th volume of The Wheel of Time series)

Rand: I have a secret plan, but I won't tell you about it.

THE END

*

A Crown of Swords by Robert Jordan
(7th volume of The Wheel of Time series)

Rand: Now my secret plan shall be unleashed! Here it is. Are you ready? Are you sure you're ready? I'm going to make it look like I'm attacking this guy. But then I will attack some other guy.

(He does, and it almost works.)

THE END

*

The Path of Daggers by Robert Jordan
(8th volume of The Wheel of Time series)

Mazrim Taim: I am evil, yaargh! Fear me!
Spooky Voice of Lews Therin: Rand, kill Taim.
Rand: Being powerful sucks. I will brood.

THE END

*

Winter's Heart by Robert Jordan
(9th volume of The Wheel of Time series)

Perrin: I was going to rescue my wife, but that will have to wait for the next book.
Mat: I was going to escape with my friends, but that will have to wait for the next book.
Egwene: I was going to attack Tar Valon, but that will have to wait for the next book.

THE END

*

Crossroads of Twilight by Robert Jordan
(10th volume of The Wheel of Time series)

(Rand broods and dreams about his three women.)

Minor Characters: There is a large use of the One Power over there. (repeat indefinitely)
Perrin: I was going to save my wife, but that will have to wait for the next book.
Egwene: I was going to attack Tar Valon, but I won't finish it until the next book.
Mat: I might flirt with Tuon in the next book.

THE END

Thanks to all who plugged my stories :)

I would reccomend anything by Matriarch, all of hers are so filled with love & emotion.

http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=112321
Triple treat by Tatelou is a fav of mine.

http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=72061
The Death of Captain Super by Seduced to cheat is a fun romp through the world of comic book super heros.

http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=116511
Alive & Going Home By rumple. Something non erotic, but poignant and a fine example of the Rumple's skill in weaving a tale.

Colly, sweets, thank you.
I'm..........speechless (no mean feat, believe me), that I should be mentioned in such august company.

*blowing you a kiss*.

Hello! Don't mean to hijack your thread Vella but it seems their are more then few intelligent people here so I pose this question since I was looking for something to read this summer.

Looking for a book of short stories, though non erotic if possiable. Anyone have any recommendations?

I already passed my quota for short dirty stories this year so I need to give my mind a short break to cool off :D

L.eyes, so glad you asked. I'm touting a newly discovered (by me) Irish woman, Maeve Brennan. Try The Springs of Affection, stories of Dublin (published in 1997 a few years after her death).

best, Perdita
