Stopping the Caravan.....maybe.

Whether your for it or against it doesn't matter to me at all. But it is an interesting work around.

Most first world countries have immigration laws that balance humanitarian/refugee and skilled entrants, with numbers and defined wiggle room for hotspots/crises.

With a fully Republican government for the past 2 years, why hasnt the government put new legislation in place?

The 60% rule in the senate. And the republicans have some RINO's as well.

RINO=A Republican who does not agree will each and every one of my reactionary views.

There's all sorts of rumors as to why so many are making the dangerous trek.

As a thought, why doesn't Trump put his money where his mouth is? That is, contract with the Mexican Federales and provide logistic, material and financial support to return to their homes? However, Trump is using the caravan for his political goals

Lastly, American forces (Navy, Marines, etc.) have been used to aid foreign countries in the time of natural disasters. The caveat is that the foreign country requested US assistance

Mexico offered them sanctuary and welfare. Very few took up the offer.
This is a political move, but I doubt that it could have been masterminded by Trump.

There are many options available, some better than others. As many of you know I have breakfast on Fridays with a group that includes several highly placed Federal agents. People that have to live with the Federal laws as written. As most are aware president Trump has stated that he'll use the US military to stop the caravan. The problem is how to do that LEGALLY?

Short of a declaration of martial law US troops cannot be used within the borders of the US for any law enforcement purposes. If Trump were to do either he would be leaving himself open to impeachment proceedings.

He could station the troops on the Mexican side of the border but that gets into the invasion of a foreign sovereign nation. That's another ball of wax.

SO

Here's one of the proposed plans. A joint military exercise between Mexico and the US in Mexico. The exercise would take place in Mexico so the US military would be 'in country' legally and with the full sanction of the Mexican government. Military exercise zones are 'no go' zones. In effect martial law has been declared for that limited area.

To build tent cities, house, feed and guard the illegals until they can be sent back to Honduras where they belong.

More to it than that. If anyone of the invasion force can make contact with an immigration official they can request asylum and the whole process starts. Housing or released into the country with a court hearing date. And the courts are almost 2 years behind as it is. But it they are never allowed to make contact with an immigration official then that's it, over, done with.

Trump and mastermind should never appear in the same sentence.

And they had higher priorities. If we want to play the political blame game, then look forward to President Obama who petulantly vetoed a comprehensive bipartisan compromise bill over the wall provisions.

Let them eat Sheriff Joe sandwiches for two years. ;) ;)

A bunch of men, women and children fleeing to the US of A for the promise of a better life and to live the American Dream. They are seeking to come to a border crossing and petition for entry.

Someone remind me again what the problem is here?

They're the wrong color.

US Marines were used in the L.A. riots.

Trump just ordered 5000 more troops to the Southern border.

As CinC he can declare a national security threat of invasion at the Southern Border and order the military to defend it. The Posse Comitatus Act does not prevent the President from declaring Martial Law or repelling invasion. There's no question about this. It's been done before.

On Oct. 25, 2005, the House of Representatives and Senate enacted a joint resolution (H. CON. RES. 274) clarifying Congress' stance on the effect of the Posse Comitatus Act on the use of the military on U.S. soil. In part, the resolution states "by its express terms, the Posse Comitatus Act is not a complete barrier to the use of the Armed Forces for a range of domestic purposes, including law enforcement functions, when the use of the Armed Forces is authorized by Act of Congress or the President determines that the use of the Armed Forces is required to fulfill the President's obligations under the Constitution to respond promptly in time of war, insurrection, or other serious emergency."

Under existing federal law the President can invade Mexico in order to defend the border.

Defend the border against what exactly?

Against a foreign illegal forcible entry into the United States the President deems to be a national security threat.

Who told you they were going to enter forcibly? Don’t you tire of being scared by every widdle thing?

Who told you they were going to enter forcibly? Don’t you tire of being scared by every widdle thing?

if the US said they will bar entry

how else would they enter but by FORCE?

Who told you they were going to enter forcibly? Don’t you tire of being scared by every widdle thing?

They did. They have been quoted as intending rto force their way into the US just like they did when they forced their way into Mexico by breaking down the fence and storming across. This caravan is over 90% military aged males.

Nobody is scared on this side of the border. We have laws they will be enforced by our military if needed.
