And Remember...or more importantly....IMAGINE

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

The election will pass...but WE will still be here.

I imagine a time that will return to the point that friends remember that they can have differences...and that thats ok.

I imagine.......

(your turn)

The song eats shit if you think about it.

Different would be nice if people were pretty and smelled good like flowers.

I wonder who Lennon figured would feed him, and what if it was shish ka rat?

No, friends, I think Lennon the millionaire, baited his traps for idiots, too damned stoned to work or study.

A true paean of optomisim...if only it was so.

The squabbling will pass with the election...at least on that topic anyway. ;)

There will be fresh subjects to wrangle about...have no fear...but we can all agree to disagree. In the end, it's enough. :D

The very nature of evolution, of the species, is conflict. Women and little children dream and 'imagine' a garden of Eden where all is fair.

The nature of conflict is the passionate disagreement between ideas and ideals, and those are only held by men, a single man, a single mind that sees things in a way no other has.

McCartney was the only real talent and Yoko corrupted Lennon and destroyed perhaps the best group ever.

Such a deal, eh?

Amicus...

:rose:

...McCartney was the only real talent...

This was my initial assessment of their respective abilities, but the more I learned about songwriting, the more I realized the genius of their collaboration. Neither writer was equal to half of the whole - in that what they created together was on such a higher plane than comparing their individual efforts. Obviously, Paul was more melodic, and John was more passionate, but you need both.

That band was all real talent, with four different facets as perfect as a cut diamond. (In this analogy, one would have to credit George Martin with being the diamond cutter.)

Except Ringo, who was just happy to be there... :D

"I wanna hold your haaa-aaaaa-aaaand."

Damn, JBJ. I hate it when I agree with you.

The Beatles kept it simple. People like simple. Complex gives them headaches.

A Buxtehude praeludium is much better music, requiring extraordinary talent to perform, but its a rare virtuoso organist that makes more than minimum wage.

People like music you can keep time to snapping your gum.

Amicus... this is a whole new side to you I'm discovering. Not only are your political views wonky -- so is your taste in music. Somewhere, perhaps in an alternate universe, there sits another Amicus -- wearing an Obama button while he listens to Exile on Main Street.

Both JBJ and Ami listen to primarily classical and instrumental, actually, from what I've been able to discern...

I'm not making any associations here, I'm just saying...

Written by German composers?

I'm no slave to popular music, but I do have a good collection of all kinds of music. I have everything from African war-drums to Paula Cole. If the music is really good, I generally own it. My classical appetite is limited to Elgar, Delius, Franck, Poulenc, and pipe organ. I especially like Ragtime, Coon Songs, and Tin Pan Alley. And I know my way around country & western tunes of the 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s.

Actually the French are better organists.

Is it bad that, every time I read the thread title, I want to yell "Hammertime!"

 :D

Ah! Procul Harem. I like Joe Cocker, but no one has ever accused him of having talent. He's an unpolished Rod Stewart.

I prefer my singers unpolished -- the more the better. My 2 favourite singers are Tom Waits and Bob Dylan. I also like Neil Young a lot, although not as much as Robert Plant.

My friend used to bowl with a Hammer ball. Every time any one of us would pick it up we would quote that song in some way shape or form. I don't think we ever got tired of it either :D

I don't care what people think but I STILL like to listen to Donna Summers, the Pointer Sisters & KC and the Sunshine Band!

Four Seasons, Beach Boys, Dave Clark Five, The Association and Iron Butterfly.

Now there was music!

Kind of showing my age there...

My sister and me got into this years and years ago, and we still do it... every great once in a while, when someone says "Stop!" we'll randomly both blurt out "Hammertime!"

And no, we never get tired of it either.

I like Bob Dylan, too. I've been a fan since like 1964.
