Does anyone have any BDSM experience with Stinging Nettles?

One problem I have is I don't know what I'm looking for when it comes to nettles. All the photos I've found on the net are too small for me to really know what I'm looking for to pick these things...

I've not experienced nettles, but someday would like to

The National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Wildflowers: eastern region says...

they are found in waste places (ie. roadsides, recently cleared or burned land, etc.) throughout the eastern US.

This field guide has an excellent picture of one.

In my experience, they don't just grow anywhere. You almost have to ask someone who knows your local area. Try a call to your local department of natural resources. The game wardens and biologists will probably have run across them from time to time and know where to send you.

They have stinging bristles which contain an acid that produces a severe burning sensation and skin irritation. Some people will have a more severe reaction than others. It would be wise to test it on a small part of the victims wrist before applying it to more sensitive areas.

I brushed my arm against some while hiking and it stung like hell and produced a raised rash-like area. My sub was with me and thought it was very funny. I made her pull expose her tits and I rubbed a stem across her nipples. She didn't think it was very funny then and howled when I made her pull down her pants and rubbed a stem across her bald pussy!

The stinging went away in about twenty minutes and the rash was gone in an hour.

Since then I have looked for it whenever we go hiking for our campfire hijinks!

I once did a search on 'nettles' and found there are a variety of them, according to your part of the world, and there are other stinging plants. One is which is said to be able to kill a horse. Some are clearly considered 'weeds', but others, I suspect, could be ordered from a nursery/plant-supply outlet.

The possible allergic OVER reactivity of the 'victim' should be considered.

AHhhhhh. Many thanks Eb! I think once I find photos large enough to assist one in finding these, I will post them.

Welcum. It is one of those barriers I cannot make myself cross. I stop short of inserting anything in my subs urethra. I hate urinary tract infections!

Be very, very, very careful with things of this nature. Stinging nettles effect people differently. You're lucky if the stinging and swelling went away in 20 minutes! I have an allergic reaction to things of that nature. And I know exactly what stinging nettles look like and avoid them. Unfortunately, I had a small hole in the knee of my jeans. That hurt!!!!! But if you cook them up nicely, they make a yummy soup~

Re bad reactions.

Antidotes to Nettles - I don't know about US Flora, but in the UK nature has been very thoughtful, usually where Stinging Nettles grow another plant with smooth broad green leaves THE DOCK also grows. The leaves of The Dock will stop the stinging if rubbed on the afflicted area of skin. So before indulging in Nettle play it may be a good idea to discover the local anti-dote plant and collect that too.

Yeow! When I was in the UK a few years back, I had run-ins with stinging nettles in several of the old cemetaries I was doing genealogy research at. All I can say is YEOWWWW!!! They stinging was nonstop for days, and my legs ached at the same time. I wouldn't like to "play" with them at all.

The sting and intense itching/pain of the nettles reminds me of fire ant bites, which I grew allergic to over the 22 years I spent in TX. I wound up having to take antihistimine (benadryl) for ant bites until they healed due to severe swelling and itching that would have otherwise made me gouge holes in myself from scratching so hard. Lovely, huh?

Yep, that sounds hellish. I am susceptible to irritants too, so I would not want to play with this stuff either.

Oh dear POOR ARDEN - obviously you did not know about the properties of the DOCK PLANT.

However I agree Stinging Nettle stings are horrible - I am averse to horses in part because when I was about 4 years old a girl sat me on her pony. The damned animal promptly began to graze near a clump of Nettles, inevitably I slid slowly down the creatures neck to land head first in the clump. Gimme a motorcycle anytime, they do what the rider wants and they don't kick when your cleaning them.

Do horses attract nettles? At every stable I've ever boarded a horse, there's always a patch of Stinging Nettles that no one ever goes near. Those things are evil I tell ya... evil. My first experience of trying to uproot those weeds that no one else wanted to touch produced itching, stinging, burning bumps on my hands, arms and face. I can't imagine anyone thinking of that as a toy... but to each their own.

sunfalcon, try checking out a local stable or trail riding area. The nettles will be the patch of tall weeds about 2 or 3 feet high that no one else will go near. The plants are thin and lanky and have tiny leaves with lots of spikey points. If you're still not sure which ones you're looking for, just touch a few different plants. The nettles will be the ones that produce an itch that make you want to scratch your skin off.
