Stephen King nominated for Bad Sex awards

I'm a huge fan of Stephen King but he's cranked out crap since MISERY. IT would be a horror classic with some tough love editing that removes about 1/2 the manuscript. IT shoulda been 2 novels minus all the filler.

Exactly. Honestly They cut the Stand (originally) but by the time IT came along, King was God and they wouldn't say boo to him.

When that Uncut version of the Stand came out with an extra 300+ pages, it proved the editors knew what they were doing and he didn't.

As I said one of the last books I read of his was insomnia (800+ pages) and trust me it was the cure for said ailment

Editing this to toss out there that I keep saying he went down hill around the time of Pet Sematary/Misery but I do want to add that the Dark Half was pretty good, I forgot when it came out though.

I read an obscure SK interview in which he confessed to losing the magic once he sobered up.

Yeah, but you have a pretty big problem with IT
I read another interview where he said that sometimes he'd be writing IT with toilet paper shoved in his nose from snorting cocaine

I think this is key to why big-pay authors taper off in quality. They stop accepting tough love editing (and/or publisher stop giving it because they see no reason to rattle a cash cow).
