Steelers guard Ramon Foster joined “The Fan Morning Show” in his weekly spot on the show and gave what he calls his final thoughts on the team deciding to stay in the tunnel for the national anthem and how fellow linemate Alejandro Villanueva was the only player seen saluting the flag.

Foster said he was upset because he felt that the Steelers were being dragged into something they didn’t want any part of.

“I was kind of pissed at how people reacted to it,” said Foster. “In a sense, that we didn’t ask for that. We were thrown into this by some comments outside of the business and the sport of football. To see the backlash that I’m getting from back home, from people in my hometown on something I had no idea was going to go over like this or to have to warn my kids about certain stuff that hey, if somebody says something at school you have to let me and your mom know. We didn’t ask for that, we didn’t ask for this whole situation.”

Foster says that he and the team just want to put this whole thing behind them and focus on football.

I think Foster is onto something. If you really want to build team unity, focus on winning games.

But a team does not live and work in an apolitical bubble. Team owners usually have strong political positions. They use the teams they own to further their own interests, which may extend far beyond sports. Players are pawns in political games.

And now players are pawns in Tromp's political game. You're being used, guys. You're a distraction while he sweats over Mueller. Y'all might mention that.

Veteran Told What Offends Him

WASHINGTON—In the wake of protests in which some players knelt during the national anthem prior to this week’s NFL games, a U.S. Army veteran has been informed that the acts offended him. “This behavior spits in the face of everything you fought for,” said friends, family members, co-workers, politicians, television pundits, newspaper columnists, and millions of social media users, notifying the 65-year-old who served two tours in the Vietnam War that the protests were a mockery of all the sacrifices he had made. “You didn’t risk your life so that a bunch of millionaires could grandstand about some social issues. When these players refuse to rise for the anthem, they’re trampling all over your legacy, so of course you’d be furious.”

Upon stating that the protests saddened him but that he had fought for their right to take place, the veteran was informed that, while his service was appreciated, he just wasn’t getting it.

I can't think of a single political position by any NFL team owner.

Every fight for a new publicly-financed stadium is an owner's political play, often with blackmail threats. Owners donated millions to Tromp's campaign -- political positions. Mark Cuban certainly espouses political points. I seem to recall that before being installed as president, Dubya was an NFL team owner, and he was kinda political. Tromp tried to gain NFL ownership but the other guys didn't want him in their club.

Pro sports, and college sports too, are intensely political. Stadia don't build themselves. Funding doesn't magically appear; nor do permits, approvals, contracts. All that takes political juice.

That was exactly what Lou Holtz said on FOX.

Your team is not going to win games when the focus is on your particular issue and not winning the game.

Hat tip: Rush Limbaugh. [I caught his opening monologue on the way home from work.]

Bottom line?

People suck.

Do away with them. ALL of them.

You mean like when the NFL refused to let Limbaugh buy a tiny piece of the Rams?

Or as when they decided not to let the Cowboys respect assassinated police officers but let Colin wear kill-the-pigs (cops) socks without repercussion???

Wimpaugh should never be allowed anywhere, by anyone.

It's a worthless piece of donkey dung.

And yet, any, and every, time he is mentioned, you just have to respond with some sort of slander...

Interesting.

It wasn't him saying it, it was Lou Holtz on FOX. Please try to pay attention and keep up with the rest of the special needs students.

Those 'short buses' are way under-powered.

They SHOULD be working in an apolitical bubble.

But the NFL has decided to become highly political instead of being a football league, because "fuck white people" is the new popular thing for the left.

So now we have to watch the NFL finish Dixi Chicking itself before we can get back to playing football.

The left is so deep in fucking denial that's going right over every one of their heads.

Awww, poor Ramon Foster didn't ask for this situation. He didnt do nothing, he's just a poor victim.

Grow up. If one man kneeling caused such a stir don't give me bull about not expecting reaction when you don't show up as a team. What might be more honest is to say that you were not expecting negative press. You knew there would be a reaction It's all about publicity. Man up and stand up.
