Perhaps this is boring to some, but it is interesting to me. Since I am stuck at home tonight, ok to the point. I live in ohio, and all alcohol over 40 proof is only sold at stores run by the state. I know this is different in other states, tell how you purchase your alcoholic beverages in your state.

And no cherry flavored 40 proof vodka please that stuff is just icky.

How strange? lol

for us, its the local "bottle-o".

most of the time, its a shop attached to the local pub.

In Vermont, beer and wine is sold at grocery stores, convenience stores, and drug stores even.

All other liquor is only sold at Vt. State Liquor Stores.

umm... I'm in California, so lets see you can buy it at the grocery stores, the liqour stores, the warehouse stores, the umm cigarette stores hmm... well actually if it's a store you can probably buy it there.

What's a "state" store, anyway?

In ohio a state store, is a store that only sells alcohol. It is run by the state like any other state run municipality like for instance the bureau of motor vehicles. You can buy beer, wine, and any alcohol under 40 proof at any store with a liquor license. These are commonly grocery stores, convience stores like dairymart or quick check, and some gas stations. All hard liquor like Jack Daniels black or green label, barcardi gin, and any alcohol over 40 proof you can only buy at a state store.

Some state stores also sell stuff like party stores ie....swizzle sticks, sour mix, and other related paraphernalia.
