Startling

This is a quote I thought of in the circumstances.

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that" - Martin Luther King, Jr.

I think the world is a better place with him gone. I just don't want to celebrate that death.

Di, you always know exactly what to say. This is precisely how I feel about it.

This pretty much sums up my feelings.

This is not meant cynically, okay? But this single action just shot Obama's reelection chances over the moon.

And no, I'm not rejoicing. Grim satisfaction mixes with amazement. This one man made an entire nation furious and just imagine the unholy amount of money we spent to get back at him.

Who says Americans lack patience?

Uh, no. It did no such thing. It makes the GOP look like a gang of dweebs and dorks and posers standing around holding their dicks. But people dont vote for heroes, they vote for their prosperity. A year from now Osama is gonna be old news. but the economy is always today's news.

If you wanna test the political wind figure out what issue spooks voters most, then do the math to see who makes the spook go away.

SWEETWITCH expresses the middleclass existential angst superbly. No middleclass human intuitively knows how they oughta feel cuz they always act on polls rather than principles and convictions.

Elites act on principles.
Bums act on appetites.
Middleclass respond to polls.

Poor pigs!

There should be minimal food standards even for pigs :D

Don't get me wrong I think that having a forgiving nature is important.

But there are some people including:

Adolf Hitler
Joseph Starlin
Sadam Hussain
and Osama Bin Ladin

That have to be dead and burried and under the ground for a 100 years before forgiveness can be contemplated.

People need an outlet for the feelings of anger towards people like this, just saying.

FORGIVENESS.

Forgiveness requires penance and atonement. An exchange of words dont cut it. The trespasser is obligated to regret his deeds, claim them, and redeem whatever harm he caused. The victim is then obligated to put it in the past and wipe the slate clean.

Its not easy to do in practice.

This, James, is one of your gems. Truer words are hard to find.

Actually I would draw a destinction, the following is true for self forgiveness:

Self Forgiveness requires penance and atonement. An exchange of words dont cut it. The trespasser is obligated to regret his deeds, claim them, and redeem whatever harm he caused.

However I do not believe the victim is obliged to do anything.

The victim can make the decision to forgive the perpetrator without the perpetrator making any recompense however in this case the victim will often choose to not interact with the perpetrator.

The perpetrator on reaching the point of true repentence and a willingness to make put things right can forgive him/her self without the need to be forgiven by the victim however desirable this may seem.

In the end we forgive people primarily for ourselves to let go and move on.

Angst, schmangst...the sonofabitch was a mass murderer and I'm glad he took a slug through his evil brain and is fish food. Good riddance to bad rubbish. :D

I used to tell my female clients to make the bastard post a cash bond if he swears he luvs you but aint changed his ways. You sure as shit find out how much youre worth to the guy. Will he give you $10,000? $5000?, $100?, a lousy buck? Maybe try and borrow the bond money from you?

Elites act on self-interest.
Bums act on immediacies.
The Middle Class does want to know what they should do, and polls are one way of finding out.

That must make you an elite, Jimmy Bob. I've rarely known someone as self-centred as you.

Speak of the Devil. I was just thinking that youre living proof of life after brain death.

It's a lovely sentiment, but the first sentence is not MLK Jr.
