I just discovered a glaring error in my piece that went up last night.

Glaring to me, anyway; I doubt most people will notice, and even if they do, I think it's not all that troubling.

So I'll be damned before I try to edit that shit, lol. I missed it, and that's on me. Now the piece belongs to the readers. I had my chance.

In my case, I think most people notice the title of the work. That is the sum total of the change I requested.

As I mentioned, this request was made over a month ago, well before discovering the strongly held aversion some people have to the option to edit, at all. My question was about the timing of a specific feature of the site, not a desire to see people repeat a trip down that well-worn rabbit hole.

My last set of edits took about six weeks to disappear from pending and a further two weeks for the actual story text to update.

The second delay is new to me.

At 7 weeks I sent a message to Laurel, because I'd realized there might have been a particular problem delaying mine. The edit was promptly made live. I don't know if it was just taking pity on the 7 weeks' delay, or if I'd actually addressed a problem that had been delaying it.

Agree. I've got a bunch of stories with html that didn't render correctly from about five years ago (when I thought I was being clever), plus the inevitable typos and doubled-up words. Not worth the bother to fix, and no-one has ever commented. We worry far too much about the .05% error rates in our stories. It's when the whole second page flips to italics, that you do something about it.

It's becoming more common, I think, to process/approve a story (edited or new), then bump the publication date down the line a few days. Two weeks is a long gap, though.

As these were edits, they didn’t get publication dates, just disappeared from pending. But ut took two more weeks after they disappeared from pending for the story text to be updated. I’ve never noticed that second delay before.

My edit took 6 weeks to process, and then another two weeks to two months to show. I stopped checking the story after two weeks, then checked it again after two months and it had finally shown up by that point. This was back at the end of last year, beginning of this year btw. Just didn't think it was worth the effort of reporting.

I had a name cock-up in a second chapter published late last year, which I tried to fix, but the text inadvertently got mixed up with the first chapter, which got duplicated. Laurel fixed the dupe, but the name didn't get fixed (a single time, where I'd missed a find/replace in the draft). I read that chapter a couple of nights ago, and it's right now, but I have no idea when it was done. Laurel must have gone into the text and changed it for me, unannounced.
