Star Trek geeks rejoice!

[Obligatory geekout!]

SQUEEEEEEE!

[/obligatory geekout!]

And Simon Pegg looks AWESOME as Scotty. Dude.

Wow!

That looks so awesome, I hope they do what Christopher Nolan did with Batman.

He did Batman Begins and when asked if it was a prequel to the other Batman movies, he said, "No, this is the prequel to our Batman series which will continue."

Looks great! I see that Kirk still gets the girl, as always. :D

The guy playing Spock looks decent, too. I was afraid they'd pick someone who looked nothing like Nimoy, but they did good. He was always my favorite.

The young Kirk jumping out of a Corvette (poor car :( ) looked like a young Meg Ryan, and I was terribly confused...

I might see this in theaters. I might skip it like I have all the other Treks since Undiscovered Country. I don't know just yet.

Will we get to see Kirk cheat the no-win test on his way to Captaincy? Stay tuned...

i will care when it comes and it turns out to be good. i don't trust the bastards anymore.

Agreed. I know some people like the "new Trek" movies, but I've found them boring, tedious, badly written and very badly directed. And let's not even go into the tv shows.

This movie has one advantage. It is "classic" Trek and if they stay true to that universe and those characters they'll have what the majority of the newer Treks always lacked: a sense of fun and heart--and hope for the damn future rather than bleak boring moralizing futures.

The trailer looks good, like old Star Trek on crack, but they've lost my trust. I'll probably still see it because my husband will want to go, but they'll only get me once if they're still on the old, badly written ride instead of a real roller coaster.

i thought the newer movies were okay, but they were basically just like extra long episodes of the show. i liked tng, but when i go to the movies i want something more than what i can get on tv.

what i really hate is rick berman or however you spell his name and what he did to star trek by trying to darken it up and make it more "real." also, enterprise, which could've been great, but ended up being one of the stupidest tv shows i've ever seen. why i watched the first three seasons of that is beyond me. i really just wanted them to get to the founding of the federation, but they never even got close. instead they ended fighting xindi and time travelling mystery men and wasting a whole lot of time and stupid gimmicks.

so... we'll see.

I still, and always will, like Babylon 5 over Star Trek.

Ditto. Especially considering jms pitched Bab5 to Paramount, they turned it down, and suddenly the new Trek franchise was a carbon fucking copy.

Bab5 was still better. But I am looking forward to the new Trek movie

it had better stories and concepts, but some of the actors left a lot to be desired.

but so did some of the actors on several star trek series.ds9 for example. not the best collection of actors in the world.

i wish i could've watched it more, but at the time i had a job that made it impossible where i lived. i was almost always working when it was on.

and then they switched over to cable when i was too broke to be able to get cable, so i was fucked.

Alexander Siddig may well have been the only reason I ever watched that show.

He's becoming like Alfred Molino in how many nationalities he plays. He's one of those "sufficiently brown" actors.

Great, thanks Rob.

It style of the trailer looks a lot like Battleship Galactica. Dark and oppressive.

ETA: The guy playing Spock plays Syler on Hero's.

eh, i never liked his character much. first he was a manwhore and then he was godman who was just trying to be like everyone else, goshdarnit. kind of annoyed me.
