Just noting in response to an idiocy that the president of the United States is not the only decision maker in any given U.S. government.
One of the board Trumpettes himself illustrated this by saying officials at the Pentagon didn't tell Trump about the balloons overflying when he was in office. They made a decision based on a very wise understanding that Trump was incapable of processing such information.

And I may be mistaken; but if the US military IMMEDIATELY scrambled and initiated a shoot down or capture of every balloon the moment they were detected, wouldn’t that give China, etc, an extremely accurate measurement of the US “reaction time”???.

Having an unidentified balloon with an attachment the size of 3 buses is not your run of the mill balloon. Get your head out of Biden's ass.
No one has any idea what its intention was, what the fucking apparatus dangling from it was or its function. Taking out the threat quickly, like when it was over Alaska, would deter them from trying again, stopping them from getting more aggressive while gaining nothing other than if they encroach on our airspace we'll take them out quickly.
Allowing any opportunity to collect any form intelligence is foolhardy especially when we don't have any clue as to what they're looking for or what they consider valuable useful intelligence.
Maybe they were dropping sensors, who knows? But letting it travel over the whole continental landmass of the US is outright lunacy. Some 4 stars need to get fired starting with Milley.
