I think being spiritual can work against you in terms of a fetish and trying to find a suitable mate. I am 43, never married and women criticize me for having an interest in giving/receiving sensual spankings and other mild kinky interests while at the same time going to church sometimes 3 times a week, especially since I am Catholic. In fact I have been kicked out of two church singles groups because of my interests. Some people, both men and women, can be so judgemental if you have a spiritual side plus a kinky side. I am certainly seeking an individual who has a spiritual side but not necessarily has the same religion that I do.
I don't agree with all the Catholic church teachings but prayer is powerful and my church has come to my aid when I have been down and out. It is just sad that people judge you by your interests and consider you an "evil person" because you enjoy a fetish and go to church. . .yes the Catholic church is going through a tough time right now and there is the need for reform and some of their beliefs are unrealistic and archaic however all religions have problems within their structure. . .it is just that sex sells no matter how unbelievable some things may seem. . .

Do you find that some fetishists judge you based on your religious beliefs?

Unfortunately, many people have the belief that things must be 100% "pure" or else they will find you to be a "hypocrite." But there are always degrees of liberal, moderate, and conservative views. Personally, I don't choose my religion based on a list that I can choose from. I find truth and enlightenment through my own personal workings. Not to say all religions are wrong, but rather, there are some things that are universally right. Everyone wants to be treated as they treat others, murder is always wrong, etc.

I see no problem whatsoever with your beliefs and religion. In fact I find it rather dangerous not to question, not to insert your own creeds. So you enjoy a good spanking...that still means you will treat others as you wish to be treated. It's really that simple.

As for catholicism...well I do have some problems with it, not necessarily those who are catholic. But nothing is perfect and I know the church has come short many times and that's ok.
