spermicide question

Has anyone ever seen it sold just as a spermicide? I can find it in condoms and built into a sponge but not just sold in a tube as a lube or a insert like monistat. I have heard it can be just bought just never seen it. Even my GYN didn't know when I asked her.

I've only seen it on condoms. Not even sure they sell it any other way? Sorry

Yea I have read many places it is available and in many forms yet no one says where.. I even looked at online Pharmacies and Canadian Pharmacies

I think sometimes you have to ask the pharmacist at the store because they keep it behind the counter. I believe I've seen the film on the shelf, but not the tubes that are used with things like diaphragms. They may keep it behind the counter so they can educate people who want it.

spermicide

spermicide is sold as orthro options it comes in a tube like a tampon applicator. its fairly cheap.

I've only used VCF... It's a spermicidal foam.

But, I've seen spermicidal film and suppositories in drug stores.

And I'm really surprised that your GYN had no clue... That's kind of scary.

Funny you should ask. A friend of mine went looking for it last week and her pharmacist said either they weren't carrying it anymore or it isn't manufactured anymore. I can't remember which one exactly, but I think it's the latter.

Up until I quit using it about 2 months ago it was available at safeway, fred meyer, qfc, target etc...... Everytime I am at one of the aforementioned stores I still see it. I don't know where you're friend went looking for it but COME ON!!! this is some of the easiest stuff to find its like condoms its everywhere.

So, it is still made and sold as just spermicide. Most places I've found it sitting out on the top shelf above the condoms. Otherwise it is kept behind the pharmacy counter. I have seen it in the gel form, foam, and film. And each of those are made by different companies.

Next to the condoms at a shopper's drugmart I found here in ottawa. Sold both in the foam form as well as the cool (never tried it) spermicidal film which dissolves and provides some protection for up to 3 hours.

KY jelly used to come in two flavors, one with and one without Non-oxyal 9. its a detergent that is also a spermicide.

Both women I tried it with, were sensitive to it and got all itchy.
