Having once won a class spelling bee in 4th grade, I sadly confess it has all deteriorated to crap.

But there is 1 word that stands out. I can never get it right the first go. Calendar.

What word can't you spell when stone cold sober?

I always have to look up connoisseur. It just never LOOKS right to me.

Pardon, but...how do you spell it then?

Despite it's origins, or maybe because of it's origins, I can never get 'smorgasboard' right.

Reconnaissance. And I hope that's the right spelling.

I also have trouble typing the word 'good'. Almost always comes out 'god' the first time. Freudian slip revealing my over blown sense of self importance? Probably. ;)

I know how to spell it, but oddly enough the word that gives me the most grief to type is "patient"

Keep in mind I just had to fix that.

I have a macro. I'm a medical editor, it's kinda important.

My problem word is 'Their' when ever I type it, it will always come out 'thier'. Good thing Word automatically corrects that.

Did anyone used to watch 'Ello 'Ello? Well, the teacher i had when I was ten said I spelt like the English Policeman talked in that programme.

"I was pissing by and I thought I'd poop in."

S Spelling is not my forte -I'm sure you've worked that out already!

guarantee always give me troubles, I always have to look it up. (type it into my google bar and see if it's recognised*L*) Angry gives me pause, I always want to spell it angrey for some weird reason.

Oh and when I type rum and coke I ALWAYS type rum and cock first -always. I don't know why *grins*

Yup, that one. And "recommend," too. Always have to look that one up.

At least you don't inadvertently misuse "forward"

And then there's "judgment." I know how to spell it, but it SHOULD be "judgement."

I always have trouble with floccinaucinihilipilification, for whatever reason.

acknowledge
exhilarate
and, sadly
school. It never looks right when I type it.

(another grade-school spelling-bee winner here - the word that knocked me out of the district finals was jealously.)

I need to keep looking up impressive

Category caught me the other day, thank you Jett,
and almost anything with vowils, I think I'm world's worse speller, in fact, I'm so bad, most on the time I can't find the correct spelling of the word in the dictionary :D

Unnecessary..........I think.

Told appears as tole, and I concur with many of the others entered here.

I know how to spell them all.......its just typing them....my fingers get tied in knots....it must have to do with the speed of my fingers, I guess. :D

I missed "iceberg" in the spelling contest in fifth grade... have never forgotten how to spell it since! :x

judgment is one that always gets me, too... I always look at spellcheck like, WTF?! that can't be right!

For the most part though, I'm a walking dictionary... my entire family knows, they just say, "mom" (or "honey") followed by the word, and I can rattle it off without thinking.

Yeah, I got knocked out of the state spelling be with hibiscus.

I haven't forgotten how to spell it since.

Marriage.

I think I finally have learned how to spell it, but that one and interrupt I can never get right.

Then again, every time I type marraige I hear in the back of my head...

"Mawwahge. That bwessed awwangement, that dweam, wiffin a dweam..."

lol. lego man.

Being a musician I find occasion to spell this word quite often, but I still fuck it up a lot.

Rhythm.

I usually try to spell rythym. Neither way looks right. Maybe I should just spell it rithum and refuse to conform.

Yes, yes, YES to "judgment." I type that one constantly (well, I work in a law office) and "judgement" just makes so much more sense!

And I'm another spelling bee veteran--made it to state one year and got tripped up by "gabardine."

Hey, I'd never tease someone who knows the word (and can spell) floccinaucinihilipilificatrix!

I did, however, recently get away with telling one of the university's ultra-reactionary and uber-pompous alumni that he's truly ardipithecus. He sorta suspected he might have been insulted, but he refused to publicly admit that he didn't know the meaning.

huked un fonicks werked fer meh.

i can't spell worth a damn. THIS is the precise reason why the world has:
a. editors
b. spell check.
