Speeding up Literotica

It's perhaps what I deserve for posting longish chapters in .rtf format, but... Literotica is very, very slow about getting my stories up. I could understand a 2-3 day delay, but 7-10 days, sometimes longer? Really? This is an ongoing frustration.

The only reason I use .rtf is I want the occasional use of italics. Is there a way to specify them in .txt file format?

And, why is it so hard/slow for the site to deal with .rtf anyway? Word has an option for "save as hml" and I can't imagine it's that hard to hack html into proper shape for embedding in a web page. (If I knew what tags they liked used, I'd happily provide embeddable HTML myself if it would speed things up.)

Have other people found ways around the delays?

The delay for submitting in .doc format isn't really all that long compared to submitting in cut-n-paste. The delay is from the sheer volume of stories being submitted.

( and I suspect a desire not to have the number of new stories exceed a single page on the New stories list each day )

You can type the italic tags directly into the text and submit via pasting into the "story text" section or uploading a .txt document, though. You can either do this as you work, or do a "find" in the document with italics as the search criteria ( Word can do this ) and add the tags every time the find stops at an occurrence.

Here's the format.

My story is rolling along when suddenly a wild need for <i>italic text</i> appears.

Don't forget the / in the second tag. That's what tells the page to stop displaying everything in italics. If you submit via cut-n-paste or uploading .txt, you'll also be able to preview your story ( more or less ) exactly as it will appear when it posts.

Also, there is only one person, Laurel, who is vetting the stories for posting. That takes some time and as RR says, the sheer volume can be overwhelming.

Many people wish Lit would post faster; on the other hand, this appears to be the biggest (or one of the biggest) sites of its kind, so people seem to think the wait is worth it.

One person vets everything?

I wonder if she's orgasm-proof. How else could you possibly read everything?

Lots and lots of skimming, looking for red flags of content violations more than actually reading, I suspect.

You know when you've caught her eye and made her read every word. Your story appears on the top of the new List with a lovely green E next to it ;)

You can't. She obviously is scanning it and only reading closely what catches her attention for some reason or her particular interest (often denoted by a green E appearing next to the listed title).

Hi all!

Stories generally take around 48-72 hours to be posted. We currently have a slightly longer backlog, but it is less than 7 days. If your story has been pending for longer than that, it's possible that you may have opened the pending submission and hit SUBMIT more than once. Stories and poems are approved by date, oldest to newest. Whenever the author makes changes to a story or poem - or even if the author clicks on the submission and hits SUBMIT again - that submission is moved to the end of the queue. To speed up the posting of your work, only make changes when necessary.

If you have any questions on specific story issues, feel free to PM me! :rose:

Also, submitting .rtfs or .docs should have no affect on the time it takes to be posted. Processing those doesn't take substantially longer than non-formatted submissions. Multimedia submissions - those with audio or illustrations - do take longer, and may be delayed.

FYI copy of post made on tthe OFFICIAL A.I.R. Thread...

We at ScouriesWorld have been delighted to see how the QUEEN has been coming out of her shell lately by posting more info on how the site is run. This is something like the third time in the last month or so we've gotten a direct response to a question that has cum up time and again in the past.

Thank you YOUR HIGHNESS! jim when he hears will be delighted.

Perhaps we could speed up the approval rate even further by transferring the Thai ex-Buddhist Monk from vote sweeping duties to the approval department. It's just a suggestion...

ps: we were just kidding about pm'ing deepak... and no MANU is not really mr chopra ;)
