I'm hoping I'm posting this on the right board - it was either here or The Playground. I searched for a Spectre/James Bond board and couldn't find one. So I wanted to start one, because I'm guessing (okay, hoping) that there are more James Bond fans on here than just me.

I saw Spectre last night, and it was amazing. I won't put any spoilers yet, because I'm not sure how well that would be accepted. I wasn't sure about Daniel Craig as Bond in Casino Royale, but Skyfall is my favorite, so I guess he is an okay Bond. ;) Although Connery is still the best.

Without giving us spoilers, was Spectre as good as Skyfall?

No. I think Casino Royale was even better than Spectre. Not by much though.

The movie just went on too long. A tighter version would have worked better.

I have never seen a Bond flick through to the end.
I have also never seen a Craig flick to the end.

Tits?

What disappointed me the most about Spectre was how Chistoph Waltz was so underutilized. His character seemed so hollow. I enjoyed Dave Bautista more as a villain.

Two theories of James Bond that I've heard recently. Which do you believe or do you have another theory?

1) "James Bond" is a code name, so with each new actor, a new person becomes Bond. This can be backuped with Craig's Casino Royale, showing how someone becomes Bond.

2) Daniel Craig's movies are the prequels to Sean Connery's. Casino Royale is the first movie, but then Spectre ends to lead up to Dr. No.

I'm not sure which theory I follow, but I am about to rewatch Dr. No to see how I feel about theory 2.

I think it had the edge. Not sure where they go with story lines now as all three DC films films were intertwined in this, so guessing it's DC's last. Craig was right for the 21st century. For sure he's not classically tall, dark or handsome, yet he pulled it off.

The list in order of personal preference are:

1/ Sean Connery: (ticked every box)
2/ Timothy Dalton: (underrated as character had to be modified due to AIDS and political correctness at time. Great actor and was true to original books)
3/ Daniel Craig: (As said, physically very wrong, yet pulled it off with brilliant scripts and modern technology. A little too earnest my only criticism)
4/ Roger Moore: (Way too smooth but put his own stamp upon character. Some of films were simply daft)
5/ Pierce Brosnan: (Far too pretty to be taken seriously and was unrealistic as a killer. Had big female following though)
6/ George Lazenby: (Arguably the most handsome of them all and truly looked the part, with the best script ever up until Casino Royale; but sadly he was embarrassingly wooden, they had to dub his voice and his walk was all wrong. Male model who'd never acted prior in his defence)

Um....we can't really count David Niven can we?...

I agree Connery is #1. I'd have to think about my order, but based on which of the movies I grew up with, I think Craig or Brosnan would be my #2 pick.

Nobody asked but:
Connery
Craig
Lazenby

The others sort of all blend together. Moore had a couple good movies but the only reason he's any sort of stand out as Bond is because he did so many.
Lazenby should have been given more of a chance. Vastly underrated as Bond. Not saying he was a good actor (he wasn't) but he could have grown into the part and was essentially perfect for it.
