Anyone seen it?

Monty Python's Spamalot is coming to town in June, and the SO and I really, really, really wanna see it. The only problem is . . . the price. I can get fairly decent seats for about $150-200 apiece, less if my connection comes through.

Is Spamalot worth it? We're both avid fans of classic Brit comedy, and the more like Monty Python it is, the better. But $150 a ticket?

I liked it, but I'm not sure I liked it $150 worth.

I saw it on Broadway, and I liked it a lot. Personally, I thought that the Python humor was much more at home on a Broadway stage than it ever was at the big screen movie theater.

Python humor is silly, puerile, juvenile. And I mean that in a good way! It was perfect for the 1970s era video-taped television medium. And the minimalistic presentation of a live stage play brought it to life too; much better than the overproduced movie productions ever did. So on that level, I would say yes, go see it on stage.

On the other hand, would I pay $150? No fucking way! But then, I'm a cheap bastard. And it was quite good, so how much it is worth is totally a personal decision.

Sorry that I can't be more definitive, and I hope that helps!......Carney

I saw it in Chicago twice (original cast and then traveling cast) and thought it was great :D

If you're going to splurge, do your best to get one of the special seats ... usually rows B, C or D on the aisle (so B1 or B 101 or something like that, depending on the theater seating system). If you get the right one for that night, it will be worth every penny you invest in it :D

Well, I can probably cover the $300 if a pick up an extra shift on the weekend (sometimes I love my job :p ). But like you all said, is it really worth $150 apiece? Hmm . . . what price low comedy?
