we watch idly as another country falls down the crapper, over taken by entitlements and people who chose not to work.

Wake up people, this is what the democrats want.

if Walker doesn't win, the only thing we can pray for is a zombie Apocalypse to save us

I dunno, could be costly to pick up and leave a continent no? I'd like Canada to start the bidding though. If they could just float across the pond to Nova Scotia or something that'd be awesome. I'd like Barcelona to be closer.

Spain's problems started with an unsustainable property boom, not entitlements nor people choosing not to work. Most of Spain's unemployed, especially the unemployed young, would like to work.

isn't Spain's wealth, held by a select few? same for land, that very few people own land in Spain?

No more than in many other countries.

Houseowning in Spain was oversold with cheap mortgages. That led to a property boom of massively increased prices for houses, extensive building of new houses and apartments, all fuelled by cheap borrowing. That was unsustainable and like Ireland, Spain is littered with part-completed housing developments stalled when the global bubble burst.

The Duchess of Alba is the wealthiest person in Spain. She is also Europe's largest landowner, and Europe's largest welfare recipient.

She achieved the last by evicting thousands of tenants from her agricultural estates then, "re- employing" them on a sharecropper type basis. That ensured that she as the direct owner of the produce of the land, received all the direct subsidies originally intended for poor peasant farmers under the EU Common Agricultural policy (CAP). Large landowners like her, but more commonly pension funds and banks, take about 78% of all farm subsidies in Europe.

The Spanish health system works quite well at about 53% the cost per head of the US system, and Spaniards live longer.

US Doctors screw the US Health system on the same principle that European landowners screw the CAP.
