Southerners

It's funny to me how people act like there is nothing going on or they hate their town or state.

Well, speaking for myself, it's kind of an inside joke concerning the base we're currently stationed at. You nearly have to go to another base and kill someone in your career field to get transferred out :) As for seeing the world...well, the military tends to not ask if you'd like to, though we've had fun doing so. We're settling here and preparing to retire here soon so it's not all bad. I much prefer the quiet of the area I'm in to some of the bigger cities we've been at.

Hunker down, you guys!…I know I’m asking a lot, but hunker down one more time!

How do you cause mass confusion in Tuscaloosa ?

Go to Walmart and have “Bubba” paged.

Cool.

I know in our area, it's standard for people to bemoan that there is "nothing" going on. That's bullshit. The fact is there is so much going on in our area arts and event wise you can't get to it all even if it is your job to do so!

Additionally all teens tend to say, "I can't wait to get out of here, it's so boring here." Little do they know that they are the ones being boring. They also don't know that of the people that "get out" 85% will be back within four years and damned glad to be here even if they don't talk like they are.

The fact is, we are a warm community with so many possibilities it's mind boggling. Most of them will miss it like the devil should they ever leave.

In the paper the other day, someone from New Orleans was talking about how compared to New Orleans we have nothing going on. What utter bullshit. I'm very familiar with New Orleans. They have nothing on us arts wise and are just barely ahead restaurant wise.

People talk trash because it's fun I guess but this is a great community.

Hey Bulldogs!
Hey Bulldogs!
Hey Bulldogs!
We just beat the hell outta' you!
Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer
Give 'em hell, Alabama!

But that's exactly what I want to hear.....

followed by

Alabama, Alabama, Alabama Crimson Tide
Raise your glasses, kicked their asses
Alabama Crimson Tide!

Tuscaloosa? Nope, that's what happens in Athens.

Two Auburn Engineering students were tasked to measure the height of a flag pole as a class assignment. They decided to measure the flag pole outside of Legion Field at the south end of the stadium. While attempting this task one student would hold the tape while the other climbed the flag pole with the other end of the tape. Much to their disappointment the student climbing the pole kept sliding down and could not get to the top.

An astute Alabama graduate was observing from a distance and suggested that the Auburn students disconnect the flag pole and measure the pole while on the ground.

The Auburn students enraged by the suggestion yelled out " We want to know how tall it is not how long it is you idiot"

Is Auburn in Oklahoma?

Auburn is in LA. (Lower Alabama) Well, more middle I guess on the Georgia side.

Forrest Gump was going to go there but he was looking for an academic challenge.

Gawd, I heard that on a Justin Wilson record a billion years ago. Only difference was they were all cajuns and all were drunk. LOL Gosh, I loved those Justin Wilson records. I wonder if my Dad still has them.

Good luck with that. You'll need it.

OK so had our asses handed to us. But guess what? We didn't quit, Steve has instilled a no quit attitude. I'm still proud of my team. GO COCKS!!!! :)

Oh, we get the "nothing going on" thing all the time. With Birmingham to the north and Montgomery to the south, both quite larger than our little 27K population, you'd think all we have are 2 men and a pony and nothing else by way of entertainment from the way some folks talk. True, we don't have some things on the same scale as a city like, say NYC, but I've been there too and it's simply not for me. I much prefer the slower pace and community feel we have here.

Plus, I really like that the last murder in our town made headline news for 2 weeks...as it was only the second of the year and only the 5th, I think, for the last 10. There aren't many big cities that can say the same and so I appreciate the feeling of safety. We're currently in a massive growth spurt with a large auto manufacturer moving a plant nearby a couple of years ago and some massive shopping centers opening up, and with that growth comes more crime. It's nice to see the city grow (on the one hand) but kinda sad too.

Nice to get out of there with a win. And what about the Cats? Go KY!

I agree, Go KY!!!

Georgia has won three straight against Alabama for the first time since winning five in a row from 1910-16. ... Under Richt in an opponent's home stadium, Georgia is 9-2 against ranked teams.

But we can't beat Florida

Always gotta have the but....... Lucky for Richt, not beating Fla isn't a pink slip like not beating Auburn is for Alabama coaches.
