Wonders how much cost to rent van across country to kidnap neon. My defence in court is my stomach made me do it. lol
you know, a plane ticket might be a little bit easier ;) and kidnapping might not even be necessary, LOL! :rose: Where do you live again?

Like my new location?

Do you know, there is only one Denny's in San Francisco - it's in Japantown of all places. And in addition to Hawaiian breakfasts, they serve grits of all things. Since Kaiser is within a 10 minute walk, I go and have breakfast there whenever I have to see my doc. Now grits, I'd kidnap for, LOL. (Don't keep them around the house, because they are sooooooooooo tempting.) :D

In Greenville, so you just come on over. I know the ticket might be easier but with the van have you tied up longer. lol

Hmmmm, kidnapping, when I'm in such an exclusively Toppy mood recently? (Well, for at least the past 2 months.) Especially after last night? Hmmmm???

Then again, if you spoon feed me grits along the way... I will be tied up, after all. ;)

Well don't worry will bring some subbie balance to your life. lol

Ferget Hell!

O, I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

In Dixie Land where I was born in
Early on one frosty mornin'
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

Chorus:
O, I wish I was in Dixie!
Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away,
Away down south in Dixie!

Old Missus marry Will, the weaver,
William was a gay deceiver
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

But when he put his arm around her
He smiled as fierce as a forty pounder
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

Chorus:
O, I wish I was in Dixie!
Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away,
Away down south in Dixie!

His face was sharp as a butcher's cleaver
But that did not seem to grieve her
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.
Old Missus acted the foolish part
And died for a man that broke her heart
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.

Chorus:
O, I wish I was in Dixie!
Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away,
Away down south in Dixie!

While I wouldn't necessarily call Denny's a "southern restaurant" (especially when compared to Cracker Barrel) but the fact that they serve grits in SF is great. I personally consider the modern day South those places where you can go to just about any restaurant and place an order for grits w/o causing a commotion. Oddly enough, I live in a Southern City that has both a Cracker Barrel and a Bob Evans (which I consider to be the northern equivalent to CB).

I was stunned when I learned that they were building and while that was over 20yrs ago and they are still open for business the volume of business is definitely lower than the less easily accessed CB.

Have a good day, ya'll!

Southern origins?

I had lunch with my SO yesterday (very romantic, at the same restaurant we shared our first meal in), and they served frozen lemon custard as a desert. It came in a star shape, covered in a lemony white chocolate. He mentioned reading that frozen custard was a tradition in some parts of the south - and that one can even find food stands dedicated to it (like ice cream stands)??? Inquiring minds (+ I'm going to be in New Orleans soon)... it was downright yummy!

I've been to New Orleans a few times. Spent a couple of weeks there twice in Navy schools. It's hot as hell. You step outside for 2 minutes and sweat like a hog. Fun place though. The only place I've ever been where you can get daiquiris at the drive-thru. :nana:

LOL! The weather is actually one of the things that kept me from going to school at Tulane. I thought I knew hot from my summers spend with my godparents in College Station (he was a professor at Texas A&M). Then I went to visit the campus at the beginning of the summer... The one thing that is nice is that being on the water it at least cools down enough to be comfortable in the evenings! Now, about the daiquiris... :D

When I lived in Vicksburg, MS, you could drive across the river to Louisiana and do the same - guess it is some sort of tradition.

BUT... I can't wait. The high school here has a good team. So I catch a game on Friday night and then if the Dawgs play at noon, pregame radio starts up at 9am.
