Sore butt and tears of joy

My oldest daughter turned 12 on Wednesday. She wanted to have a party this year and was going to take a few friends swimming but because of the freaky crappy weather being so cold in mid August we had to scrap that idea. She has a thing for horses so I came up with horseback riding for her and her friends.

I had not been on a horse in eons, I was probably about 8 the last time I rode. It was a thrilling experience for all of us. Her friends loved it not only because they were invited to go but because they had never ridden before and it was a completely different party than they usually go to. Most birthday parties are just games, cake, bowling, swimming etc. All of them want to to the same thing for their birthday now.

Today however, my butt hurts:( . I think we did to much running and bouncing around in the saddle. We should have stuck to walking the trails instead.
The sore butt is worth it though to see the smile on her face. That is the closest she had ever been to a horse. She has been saying she wants to be a veternarian when she gets older and now she wants to specialize in horses.

I'm so glad I was able to give her that experience. It brings tears to my eyes to see her that happy and to know that I had a part in making her that happy:)

a few of the tears may be from the sore butt :p

Bravo!

I've been riding since I was 4, and I don't know what I would do without my horses. They're two of my best friends. I just wish I could keep them closer.

Riding is always fun and the soreness will go away. Stretching before a ride helps, but if you haven't ridden, you will have a sore butt the first few times.

Sounds like the girls are hooked though. Good on them.

:)

Been riding since around 4, and got my first horse at 7 (I think) - horses are incredible animals, and have been my port in a storm more times than I can remember, so it's nice to hear of kids getting the chance to experience them.

Shame on you, titillating us poor perverts with a kinky-sounding thread title like that.

Oh good...was afraid I was all alone in this section of the gutter...<BG><wink>

Wonderful!

What a great party - well done!

You've given her a pretty terrific experience as well as the gift of bragging rights among kids at school for the rest of the year! :)

We're currently in the middle of planning the birthday party for our 5-year-old son. He wants Spiderman everything, but he also wants to have a pool party at the Y like his sister did last year.

OK.

A Spiderman-luau?

(P.S. Yes - I wondered naughty thoughts about the thread title too. *grin* )

Glad she had a great time, horses are great. I haven't been on one in years, but I think they are such beautiful creatures.

I was almost going to go into bussiness doing kid's parties, until I realized I would have no life. So now I just offer suggestions.

When my son was small, he was into diggers, so I dumped dirt and rocks all over the kitchen table and made it a construction zone, complete with all his equipment.

The easiest was the Yu-Gi-Oh party, tell them they are going to duel and they sit there and play quietly.
